There's no debating the fact that League of Legends is one of the most popular esports on the planet. Now, the game's reach is about to extend just a little further, as the 2025 LCK Finals appear ready to be broadcast live on South Korean television.

LCK for Everyone: Esports Expand

A year of top-flight League of Legends action is reaching its end in South Korea as we reach the last set of games for the 2025 season. With this year's LCK trophy and a first seed at Worlds on the line, the high-stakes LCK Finals will deliver a true esports spectacle, and one that nobody will want to miss.

According to a report by The Korea Herald, the LCK Finals are about to be broadcast over-the-air on television for the first time ever by the hand of the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation. When it comes to esports as a whole, this will mark the first time since the 2018 Asian Games that an esports event is televised through a domestic terrestrial channel.

For LoL esports, this showcases the scene's growing reach and influence. For the LCK, it simply goes to show how important the game is for a region that has won the last three consecutive World Championships. Looking ahead, though, the question has to be asked: is this a one-time thing, or will this mark the path for the future of esports everywhere?

This year's LCK Finals will pit the winner of KT Rolster vs Gen.G against Hanwha Life Esports to decide this year's South Korean champions on Sunday, September 28th, starting at 7 am CET/2 pm KST.
