Flandre Announced as Bilibili Gaming’s New Top Laner
Li “Flandre” Xuan-Jun has joined Bilibili Gaming as the League of Legends team's new top laner.
His addition to the roster follows the announcement last month that Chen “Bin” Zen-bin would be taking a leave of absence from competing temporarily.
BLG Gets a Veteran Injection
Flandre is a well-known talent within the LPL. A stalwart pillar for many teams including Edward Gaming, JD Gaming, and Anyone’s Legend, he departed from Anyone’s Legend shortly after Chen “Breathe” Chen’s addition.
He was linked as a potential replacement for Bin following the latter’s decision to step away from competition temporarily, and now it appears to be true.
Flandre’s addition to BLG re-connects him with the only other Worlds winner on the roster — Park “Viper” Do-hyeon. The two famously lifted the Summoner’s Cup together in 2021 on EDward Gaming, triumphing over DWG KIA.
For a team as stacked with talent as BLG is, the addition of Flandre is a welcome sight for many. Following the frustrations of the roster at not managing to close out Grand Final wins in Worlds 2024 and MSI 2026, he could just be what they need to get over the final hump.
Final Surge for Worlds Qualification
BLG are currently already dominating in LPL Split 3, holding a commanding first-place lead at a 7-1 record. The only series loss thus far has been to Top Esports, despite fielding rookie Yang “Wenbo” Wen-Bo. BLG’s next series will be against JD Gaming on August 12, marking Flandre’s debut.
Clarification on Bin (Extra)
New information has surfaced regarding Bin's sudden temporary departure from BLG's active roster and competing. Below is a translated transcript from BLG's Manager You "You" Chang-Xin:
"Ever since MSI, a lot of baseless discussions have been popping up online, and I've been seeing them a lot myself. So, I figured I would take this opportunity to say something to everyone.
Regarding Bin's sutation — after consecutive losses at MSI and EWC, he himself realized there were issues with his mindset and competitive form. He proactively came to use and asked for a rotation, to step away from competition for a while and properly get himself back on track.
Throughout everything we've been through together, the trust and shared goals between us won't be shaken by the results of one or two matches.
That's the whole process, plain and simple. Rumours about internal discord on the team, or that he's leaving the team, etc — that's all complete b***shit.
Regarding [Flandre's] situation — sincere thanks for him joining. We believe his rich professional experience can bring the team more help and tactical depth.
During our communication with Shengqiang, we could feel his passion for the profession. His personal effort is also widely recognized. He's also made clear that no matter how rotations or arrangements go for the team, he'll contribute his energy whenever the team needs him.
That's all there is to it — it's not as complicated as everyone thinks. We also hope that, whether online or offline, everyone will stop personally attacking the players and coaches."
