Faker and T1 have done it again!

Playing against KT Rolster, the GOAT led arguably the greatest League of Legends team to Worlds 2025 victory, completing the historic three-peat.

A Hard-Fought Battle

Going into the series, everyone expected the greatest Telecom War in League’s history to deliver. While the Summoner’s Cup was on the line, it meant something completely different for both teams. For Faker and T1, it meant expanding their legacy; for KT Rolster, it was all about securing their own.

As expected, the series delivered. Game 1 started with KT Rolster on the blue side, playing the early game to absolute perfection. But T1’s mid-game helped them secure Atakhan and the Baron, closing out the game with relative ease.

KT Rolster answered back immediately, punishing T1’s mistakes effectively to win team fights. Despite several close calls, they secured multiple objectives and key fights to level the series. KT didn’t stop there — they won Game 3 as well, with Cuzz’s Dr. Mundo refusing to die.

But just like Worlds 2024 against BLG, a 1–2 deficit meant nothing for T1. Playing their composition to perfection, and despite KT Rolster’s strong early game, T1 pushed the series to Silver Scrapes. Game 5 was a banger from the start, as T1 locked in Galio for Faker.

Playing on a timer, T1’s superior teamfighting came through, securing Atakhan and the Cloud Drake soul to counter KT’s outscaling comp and patiently converting their lead to claim their sixth Summoner’s Cup. This also meant, a three-peat of T1 as an organization and the core of OFGK.

Gumayusi, for his stellar performances on Varus, Kalista, and Miss Fortune, was named the MVP of the series.

The Undisputed GOAT

With five Worlds titles and two MSI trophies under his belt, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok stands as the uncontested greatest of all time in League of Legends. It’s hard to imagine what more could expand his legacy, given he already has more international titles than most teams have regional ones.

But twelve years into his career, the League of Legends GOAT has achieved a previously missing milestone. Against KT Rolster, he completed the three-peat — further widening the gap between him and the rest.

With still four years left on his T1 contract, the question remains — what more can Faker achieve? What’s left for him to prove? For three years now, T1 has struggled (relatively) throughout the year, but come Worlds, they scale with the stages and secure the title.

2025 was especially doubtful after they let go of Zeus, one of the best top laners in the LCK. But with a new piece in place, T1 and Faker recaptured the same magic and went on another unimaginable (yet somehow imaginable) run to secure the three-peat.

While the Official League of Legends action has now concluded. We still have more content from League of Legends. Tomorrow, the nominations for Caedrel and Sjokz's League Awards go live, the awards will follow soon after.
