Riot Games released a new orchestral version of the Worlds 2026 theme on Monday, October 12, featuring heavy metal elements and a contribution from Pentakill. The accompanying video also includes visual references to the band, which has not released a new album since 2021.

Despite the release, Riot has yet to announce any new music projects for Pentakill. There is currently no confirmation of additional songs, a new album, or new skins for the band in League of Legends.

Pentakill Appears in New Version of Worlds 2026 Theme

The new arrangement combines the World Championship theme's traditional orchestral sound with heavy guitars, giving the track a style reminiscent of Pentakill's previous work.

Pentakill is listed as the performer in the credits for the track, titled "Worlds 2026 Championship Theme." Rich Thomson handled composition and production, with guitars by Owain Williams and keyboards by Jose "Atlan" Aranda.

George Lever handled mixing and mastering, while Alexander Temple and Sebastien Najand are credited for the original Worlds theme. Riot Games Music served as executive producer.

Although Pentakill is credited on the track and its logo appears throughout the video, Riot has not confirmed whether the release is part of a larger project. For now, the band's involvement in the Worlds 2026 theme is the only new development that has been announced.

HEARTSTEEL and True Damage Have Already Returned in 2026

Pentakill is not the only League of Legends virtual music group making headlines in 2026. In September, Riot brought HEARTSTEEL back with the single "Live My Life", the group's first new song since "PARANOIA" in 2023.

HEARTSTEEL also received a new skin collection in Patch 26.20, featuring Ezreal, Kayn, Aphelios, Yone, K'Sante, and Sett.

Meanwhile, True Damage returned with "Know My Name," the official Worlds 2026 anthem. Released on October 8, the song was accompanied by a music video celebrating the career of Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok and T1's three consecutive World Championship titles from 2023 to 2025.

Pentakill Has Not Released an Album Since 2021

Pentakill was Riot Games' first virtual music group for League of Legends. The band debuted in 2014 with "Smite and Ignite," followed by its second album, "Grasp of the Undying," in 2017.

Its most recent album, "Pentakill III: Lost Chapter," was released in September 2021. Riot also hosted a virtual concert to celebrate the release, bringing the band's members together for a performance set in the League of Legends universe.

Pentakill's lineup includes Karthus, Mordekaiser, Sona, Yorick, Olaf, and Kayle, along with Viego, who joined the project during the "Lost Chapter" era.

When Does Worlds 2026 Start?

Worlds 2026 begins on October 15 in the United States. The tournament will take place across four stages, with the Grand Final scheduled for November 14 in New York City.

True Damage is also set to perform during the Grand Final Opening Ceremony. Riot Games, however, has not announced whether Pentakill will take part in the event.
