The 2026 League of Legends World Championship is almost here, and it is time to look at the best players heading into the tournament.
Today, we're taking on the difficult task of ranking the top 5 mid laners attending this year's Worlds.
Keep in mind that this ranking will be a reflection of these players' current form, capacity to perform under pressure, influence on their teams' success, champion pool depth, and Worlds meta affinity.
So, without further ado, let's take a look at the top 5 mid laners of Worlds 2026!
Honorable Mentions
Heo "ShowMaker" Su, of Dplus KIA, and Song "Rookie" Eui-jin, of Invictus Gaming, have both shown incredible highs at times this season. If they each wish to secure a second World Championship, however, they will need to find the consistency needed to push their teams to the top.
Given their talent and experience, both ShowMaker and Rookie are fantastic players to follow at Worlds 2026.
5. Faker (T1)

The man, the myth, the legend; Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok will be looking to collect an astounding 7th Worlds title this year.
Though Faker and T1 as a whole come into this year's tournament looking shakier than usual, this isn't something that has stopped the Unkillable Demon King before. When push comes to shove, Faker has time and again shown he is the most clutch player in League of Legends history. At Worlds, very few assets are more valuable than that.
More than 12 years after his debut, Faker continues to prove he can go toe-to-toe with the best, and it is precisely his experience, leadership, and winning mentality that make him stand out among other mid laners at Worlds 2026.
4. Caps (G2)

The latest Hall of Legends inductee is peaking at precisely the right time once more. If G2 Esports were able to secure Europe's top seed at Worlds with such ease, that is largely thanks to Rasmus "Caps" Winther in the mid lane.
The veteran player and MSI champion looked a step above his competition at the 2026 LEC Summer Playoffs, where he finished first among all mid laners in KDA (7.07) and gold per minute (439).
Caps and G2 have already reached the Grand Finals at Worlds before, and they will be extra hungry to prove once more that they got what it takes to make the West proud on the biggest stage.
3. Zeka (HLE)

Fresh off his first MSI title, Kim "Zeka" Geon-woo is coming into Worlds 2026 in absolutely ridiculous form. Not only has he expanded his champion pool considerably, but his synergy with Seo "Kanavi" Jin-hyeok only continues to grow, granting Hanwha Life Esports one of the most dangerous one-two punches at the tournament.
An assassin at heart, Zeka's thirst for blood and dynamism make him stand out among other more restrained mid laners. Though this can well prove to be a double-edged sword at times, it also makes Zeka one of the most clutch players at Worlds 2026.
Realistically speaking, any of the top 3 players on this list could make a claim for the #1 spot; it is only a matter of peaking at the right time.
2. Chovy (GEN)

The greatest player to have never won Worlds, Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon is looking like his old self once more. An extremely oppressive laner and one of the cleanest players that competitive League of Legends has ever seen, there are little-to-no weaknesses in Chovy's game.
Despite a rough start to the year for Gen.G, the team is clicking right in time to make a claim for the biggest trophy of all. Over at the 2026 LCK Season Playoffs, Gen.G looked unbeatable throughout the bracket, with Chovy himself leading all mid laners in kills per game (4.91), KDA (7.28), CS per minute (9.96), and gold per minute (463) — simply ridiculous stats.
1. knight (BLG)

Bilibili Gaming may have lost the LPL Split 3 Grand Finals, but the truth remains that, if we look back at the year as a whole, then Zhuo "knight" Ding clearly stands alone as the best player of 2026.
Though he has always been a top-tier mid laner, knight's incredible form in 2026 has led BLG to the First Stand title, the MSI Grand Finals, and a solid claim as one of the biggest favorites to take home the trophy at Worlds 2026.
One of the biggest tools at knight's disposal is his ability to do whatever is needed of him at any given time. Where other mid laners may look a little more set in their ways at times, knight continues to prove that he can simply do it all, and do it well.
