The LCS Promotion (also known as the LCS 2027 Promotion Tournament or Americas Promotion for the LCS slot) is a League of Legends esports qualifier series organized by Riot Games. It determines the single guest team slot in the League Championship Series (LCS), North America's top-tier professional league. The event pits the defending LCS guest team against the top finishers from the North American Challengers League (NACL) and Liga Regional Norte (LRN). It holds C-tier status in the broader esports ecosystem as a regional promotion pathway rather than a primary championship, but carries high stakes for Tier 2 organizations seeking access to LCS revenue sharing, global event qualification paths (First Stand, MSI, Worlds), and franchise-adjacent benefits.

Promotion and relegation formed a core part of the original NA LCS structure from its 2013 launch through 2017. Bottom LCS teams faced Challenger Series squads in end-of-split promotion tournaments, allowing upward mobility (examples include Cloud9's early rise and various Challenger promotions like Team Liquid's path). Disguised won the LTA North 2025/2026 Promotion Tournament (defeating Luminosity Gaming) to secure the 2026 LCS guest slot after the LTA's discontinuation and LCS/CBLOL reinstatement as independent leagues. The modern LCS Promotion series thus began with the post-LTA structure for the 2026–2027 transition, emphasizing cross-regional (NA + LATAM North) competition and mandatory defense of the guest slot with no automatic retention. Format has standardized around double-elimination Bo5 brackets with play-ins.
Format
The 2027 edition (held in late 2026) features a field of 5 teams: the defending LCS guest (Disguised), the top 2 non-academy teams from NACL 2026 Summer (Cupid eSports as #1 and Maryville University as #2), and the top 2 from LRN 2026 Split 2 (Fuego as #1 and Zeu5 Esports as #2).
It uses a hybrid elimination bracket (double-elimination overall) with all matches best-of-five under Full Fearless Draft and First Selection rules. The #2 seeds from NACL and LRN contest a Play-In Bo5; the winner advances to face the defending guest (Disguised) in the bracket. Regional champions (NACL #1 and LRN #1) receive byes directly into the Upper Bracket Semifinals. The winner of the Grand Final qualifies as the LCS 2027 guest team (with associated revenue share and international qualification eligibility). The defending guest, if eliminated, must enter NACL or LRN 2027 qualifiers. No cash prize pool is awarded; the sole reward is LCS qualification.
The edition is hybrid: the first six days (Play-In through Lower Bracket Final) are played remotely/online, with the Grand Final held as a LAN event with live audience at the Arena Esports Stadium (CINEMEX Artz Pedregal) in Mexico City, Mexico (MX). Production partners with LYON following LCS Homegrounds; logistical support (flights, hotels, practice rooms in Mexico City) is provided for qualifying LRN teams. Schedule runs 2026-10-05 (Play-In) to 2026-10-12 (Grand Final).
