Team Liquid has acquired 17‑year‑old AWPer Georgi "Jorko" Mitev as a replacement for Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak. The Bulgarian spent the last five months at FOKUS, where he saw some success in Tier 2 events. Now, with a Team Liquid jersey on his back, jorko finally has the opportunity to make a name for himself in Tier 1 Counter‑Strike.

The youngster also brings experience from his time with known European organizations like Copenhagen Wolves and MOUZ's academy team. He will now compete under one of esports’ most prestigious banners and represent the Americas at future Majors.

Jorko Replaces ultimate as Team Liquid’s AWPer

Earlier today, Team Liquid announced they are benching their Polish AWPer ultimate, who had been with the team for two years. Soon after, Jorko was unveiled as his replacement. The young talent is expected to join the roster immediately, with his first outing likely being the BLAST Bounty Summer Online Qualifiers, scheduled to begin on July 21.

Following the acquisition of a new AWPer, Team Liquid’s starting lineup now comprises:

Team Liquid has experienced several ups and downs over the years. Though once a top organization, Liquid hasn't seen silverware in over five years and has undergone numerous roster adjustments.

The 2026 season, in particular, has seen the team struggle in Tier 1 events, with their best result being a top‑8 finish at BLAST Bounty Winter. Their recent Major campaign was notably disappointing, as they exited the tournament in Stage 1 with a 25th-27th place finish. Jorko's acquisition appears to be Liquid's attempt to take a step in the right direction.

Despite lacking Tier 1 experience, jorko was part of a FOKUS roster that defeated fairly notable teams such as Fnatic, Inner Circle, Passion UA, and BC.Game, among others. He has also shown promise individually, averaging a 1.08 rating throughout his career.

The Bulgarian AWPer is seemingly not the only change the team is eyeing this summer, as several sources report Liquid has its sights set on a new IGL as well. For now, however, we'll need to wait for official confirmation to learn more.
