ESL Announces IEM Cologne 2027; Tickets Go Live October 15
ESL has announced the return of Counter-Strike esports to Cologne. Starting August 4, LANXESS will host the best of Counter-Strike for the 2027 edition of IEM Cologne.
The upcoming edition will also feature a 360° stage for the first time, allowing more fans to attend the Cathedral to witness the greatest teams duke it out.
IEM Cologne Expected Format
The tournament will feature 24 teams and three stages: Play-Ins, Groups, and Playoffs. The Play-Ins will be the bottom 16 teams playing for 8 spots in the Group Stage. The remaining 16 teams will play in two 8-team GSL brackets.
ESL will increase the number of teams playing in the Cathedral, meaning 8 teams will qualify for the Playoffs instead of 6. The tournament will also feature a 3rd-place finisher ahead of the IEM Cologne 2027 Grand Finals.

The tickets for the final four days of IEM Cologne 2027— August 12-15 — will go on sale at 3:00 pm CEST on October 15, 2026.
