Just when everyone thought the LTA North was a two-horse race, Shopify Rebellion went ahead and threw a spanner in the works by taking down Cloud9. With their victory in the opening match of the Elimination Phase, Shopify Rebellion will move on to the Upper Bracket Finals while securing a spot at the LTA Championship in the process.

An Unexpected Turn of Events

After sweeping the Group Stage with a perfect 6-0 game record, Cloud9 came into the Split 3 Elimination Phase as one of the biggest favorites to come away with the trophy. And sure enough, their opening series of the playoffs saw C9 dominate their rivals of Shopify Rebellion in the first game to set up what looked to be an easy win. The Rebels, however, had other plans in mind.

The team bounced back from the first game loss to dominate C9 in back-to-back games, placing themselves just one in away from completing the feat. Before they were down for the count, though, Cloud9 were able to punch back to take the series to a final game to the beat of Silver Scrapes.

With everyone on the edge of their seats, Game 5 saw the two teams trade blows for nearly 40 minutes before SR found Vulcan out of position in the late game, finding the perfect angle to close out the game, and the series.

The Rebels Are Going to Texas

With the shocking victory, Shopify Rebellion now find themselves just one win away from the Grand Finals of the final split of the year in the LTA North. Now, the team will await the result of FlyQuest vs Team Liquid to find out which team will stand before them in the Upper Bracket Finals.

Perhaps more importantly, though, their latest feat has secured SR a spot at the 2025 LTA Championship in Texas, where they will face off against the best teams from the South for a ticket to Worlds 2025. Not a bad day to be a rebel.
