Riot Games has delayed the launch of Team Voice in League of Legends, which was set to debut in North America and Oceania with Patch 26.20. The developer confirmed the delay on Tuesday, September 22, and has not yet set a new patch or release date for the feature.
The previous target was announced on September 8 during a Dev Update. Patch 26.20 remains scheduled for October 7 on Riot's release calendar, but Team Voice will no longer be part of that update.
What We Know About League's Team Voice So Far
Riot publicly confirmed its plans for the feature on March 13. At the time, the company explained that it wanted to expand the existing system, which is limited to players in a premade party, to allow voice communication between everyone on a team.
More details followed in early September. Riot announced better noise cancellation, faster connections, and improved stability, while also tying access to Team Voice to Honor level. According to the developer, players at Honor level 3 or higher will be able to use the feature.
Voice skins are also planned, allowing players to modify their voices while communicating. Riot said these options are being designed to remain clear and understandable even during teamfights.
The rollout was set to be gradual, beginning in North America and Oceania before potentially expanding to other servers. Riot says it only intends to bring the system to additional regions when it is confident it can provide the necessary support and moderation.
