Shopify Rebellion and Moist Esports have officially announced their merger, marking a significant evolution for both organizations. Thus bringing two influential organizations together under one banner.

With the inclusion of prominent creators Charles Christopher “MoistCr1TiKaL” White Jr. and Ludwig “Ludwig” Ahgren as co-owners, this move will undoubtedly strengthen the organization’s reach and appeal.

This decision follows in the footsteps of Moist x Shopify Rebellion, a previous collaboration between the two organizations in the North American VALORANT Challengers League, which captured widespread attention. The merger aims to combine the strengths of both organizations, focusing on popular competitive titles while consolidating resources for long-term success.

Expanding Influence with Star Power

The merger elevates Shopify Rebellion’s profile with the addition of Ludwig and MoistCr1TiKaL, two of the biggest streaming personalities in the world. Their involvement brings a massive built-in audience and a renewed sense of excitement around Shopify’s ventures. Ludwig’s rise as a prominent League of Legends streamer, featuring collaborations with iconic players like Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng and Marc "Caedrel" Lamont, further highlights the organization’s plans to tap into a broader fanbase.

The merger isn’t just about competitive success—it’s about building a resilient organization for the next decade and beyond. In a statement, Shopify Rebellion’s founder, Jeremy Steeves reflected on the merger:

“Coming together allows us to field more and stronger teams, invest deeper for fans, provide more to our players, and create a singular, more resilient organization over the long term.”

Esports Ventures

League of Legends remains Shopify Rebellion’s largest competitive title. While their debut season in the LCS yielded modest results, the merger offers a fresh start. With the newly-formed LTA North Conference set to kick off on January 25th, the combined efforts of Moist and Shopify aim to reignite interest in North American League of Legends.

To go alongside their League of Legends team, Shopify has also ventured into Riot’s most recent esport, VALORANT. However, instead of going the standard route, they field a roster in VALORANT Game Changers, a circuit for women and other marginalised genders. Probably their most successful venture yet, Shopify Rebellion GC has claimed the VALORANT Game Changers Championship two years in a row, setting expectations high for 2025.

Shopify Rebellion has also recently acquired the Rainbow Six Siege roster of the former Soniqs team, including two-time SI winner Troy "Canadian" Jaroslawski. Since the players had already qualified for the Six Invitational 2025 via Global Standings, it means that Shopify will now be represented on the big stage in Boston for the biggest tournament of the year.

Shopify Rebellion also fields a DOTA 2 roster, who are currently in the North America Closed Qualifiers for ESL One Raleigh. However, the team’s international record is quite spotty, with them also failing to qualify for The International 2024. Hopefully, this merger can help the team to rebuild for future seasons.

The merger of Shopify Rebellion and Moist Esports ushers in a bold new chapter for all parties involved, uniting star power with competitive expertise. With exciting tournaments ahead, this partnership has the potential to open the gateway for many future content creator - esports organization collaborations.
