LYON Earns Final LCS Ticket to Worlds 2026 By Eliminating Shopify Rebellion

Despite a difficult start to the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Split 3 Playoffs, LYON fought their way through the Lower Bracket with a victory over Shopify Rebellion.

Just one year after entering the region, the team is now set to attend the upcoming Worlds 2026, its third international event.

A Rocky Road for the Favorites

Despite being one of the region's favorites, particularly after their impressive performance at MSI 2026, LYON faced a rocky path in the LCS Split 3 Playoffs stage.

After selecting Cloud9 in hopes of securing an early ticket to Worlds 2026, the decision backfired and sent them to the Lower Bracket.

LYON had one final chance to secure the last ticket to the most prestigious event of the season in North America, but first had to take down Shopify Rebellion.

Shopify Rebellion entered the series with plenty of momentum after defeating both Sentinels and FlyQuest 3-2. They looked confident and well-prepared heading into the decisive matchup.

However, LYON's individual skill and overall experience were enough for them to win the series and secure the last spot for the region at Worlds. 

Can LYON Make Another Deep International Run? 

The seeding for the North American region has yet to be decided, as the LCS Split 3 playoffs are still ongoing. The Grand Final is scheduled for October 4, making North America the final region to conclude its season.

However, LYON can still fight for the regional title and, with it, the region’s first seed at Worlds. To win the title, they will have to take down Cloud9 and Team Liquid along the way.

Known for their self-confidence and strong macro play, LYON surprised many during MSI 2026 by defeating G2 Esports and pushing the eventual tournament winners, Hanwha Life Esports, to a five-game series.

They finished in third place, a significant improvement over their Group Stage exit at The First Stand 2026.

The team has already won the LCS 2026 Lock-In and LCS Spring 2026, and is now aiming for its third domestic title of the season.

At Worlds 2026, the team will have the support of the home crowd, with the event taking place across several locations in the United States. If LYON wants to make a statement, there may be few better opportunities than playing in front of a home crowd.

While they will not enter the tournament among the top contenders, particularly given North America's recent international results, LYON could once again shock everyone on the international stage.
