The 2026 League of Legends World Championship is just days away, with the Play-In stage set to kick off the tournament. Four teams will compete for a place in the next stage, but only one will advance, while the other three will see their season come to an end.
Let's take a look at what we can expect before the start of Worlds 2026.
Worlds 2026 Play-Ins Matches
The League of Legends Worlds 2026 will kick off the Play-In stage on October 15, with FURIA facing MVK Esports in the opening match, followed by a clash between Karmine Corp and Cloud9.
The winner goes straight to the Upper Bracket Finals, while the loser will still have a chance through the Lower Bracket.
The Play-In stage is brief, with all matches scheduled to take place over just four days. For a closer look at the full Worlds 2026 Play-Ins schedule and bracket, make sure to check out our dedicated cover.

Play-Ins Matchups Preview
FURIA enters the opening matchup as the favorite against MVK Esports, while the second series is much harder to call.
Karmine Corp and Cloud9 are both strong contenders to secure a spot in the next stage, making their head-to-head clash one of the most anticipated matchups of the Play-In stage.
MVK Esports could be the first team eliminated, with the other three squads appearing better positioned to advance.
However, FURIA will face a tough challenge to survive the Play-In stage, especially with strong contenders like Karmine Corp and Cloud9 standing in their way.
There is an interesting possibility of FURIA defeating Cloud9 on the international stage, especially given the recently favorable head-to-head record of Brazilian teams against their North American counterparts.

There is a strong possibility that the Play-Ins final will feature a rematch between Karmine Corp and Cloud9, with the winner securing the final spot in the Swiss Stage.
Karmine Corp may have a slight edge thanks to its more recent international experience, but Cloud9 will have the support of the home crowd behind them, which could make all the difference.
Worlds 2026 Arrives!
All matches will be streamed on Riot Games’ official Twitch and YouTube channels, as well as by authorized co-streamers, giving fans multiple ways to follow the action.
The Play-Ins final is scheduled for October 18 at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles. The main event will run from October 23 to November 14, with matches held across several venues in the United States.
The Swiss Stage will begin at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center (CUTX) in Allen, Texas, before culminating in the Grand Finals at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The winning team will claim the $1 million prize pool and be crowned the League of Legends World Champions of 2026.
