In recent years, the esports economy has been struggling. With the infamous Silicon Valley bank collapse and the fall of FTX, esports has been in an uncomfortable place. Multiple organizations are shutting down and some are seizing operations. Especially in the case of newer organizations. One such is KRU Esports, An argentine organization founded by footballer Sergio “SLAKUN10” Aguero in 2020.

The organization currently fields a Rocket League roster, League of Legends roster and a Valorant roster. The organization's Valorant squad is one of their most successful ventures, with the squad being part of Riot’s partnership program in VCT Americas.

KRU Esports’ Valorant division also recently made a Cinderella run at the VCT Americas LCQ. They failed to win a single game in the VCT Americas regular season, but made an undefeated run to qualify for the Valorant Champions 2023.

The Valorant division has always been a mainstay in the International scene. Unfortunately they couldn’t secure an International trophy. KRU Blaze, the game changers Valorant squad also recently dominated LATAM and secured the VCT Game Changers Championship.

While the teams are decently successful, the player salaries and their accommodation is pretty expensive. Especially with the economic struggles, owning an esports squad isn’t the cheapest hobby. The story was the same for Aguero, it was also rumored that he’s planning to leave the organization. Fortunately, it was just that and Aguero isn’t the owner of the team anymore, but is the co-owner.

KRU Lionel "Leo10" Messi:

In an announcement made today, Aguero introduced Lionel “Leo10” Messi as the new co-owner of KRU Esports.

The Ballon D’Or winner, A FIFA World Champions and a football legend will join his longtime friend and teammate’s esports venture, as  the organization rises to new heights. With Messi supporting them, the future is certainly bright for KRU and esports as a whole.
