There's no doubt about it, Gen.G are the biggest favorites to win it all at Worlds 2025. The team is in an incredible run of form after winning MSI and the Esports World Cup earlier in the year, none of which would have been possible without their rock in the Mid Lane: Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon.

Ahead of Gen.G's first game of the Swiss Stage, Strafe Esports had the chance to sit down with Chovy for an exclusive interview. During the conversation, the South Korean star was able to discuss Fearless Draft, his legacy, and the team's newest rising star.

[Strafe] Gen.G has been incredibly successful this year, obviously. Given your own deep champion pool, do you feel like the addition of Fearless Draft is something that has helped Gen.G lift so many trophies?

"When Fearless was first being implemented, I feel like I was in more of a pessimistic position. But as we played it out, I felt like it was actually a lot better than I thought. And when it comes down to playing it out, implementing that, and thinking about Gen.G as a team, I feel like we definitely had a lot of benefit from it."

[Strafe] If you manage to win Worlds with Gen.G this year, you will have won everything at that point in your career. So, what would be the next goal for you from there? How would you like to leave your mark in the esport?

"I feel like that doesn’t actually mean that I have won everything at that point because we have a new tournament that came out this year, First Stand, that I wasn't able to win or even participate in. So, I haven't really thought about that at all, winning everything.

And even if that was to happen I don't think I would really pay much attention to that or like put so much focus in that because I don't really consider myself as a person who has written a new story in esports history or anything like that. Personally, I think I would be very satisfied if I won Worlds, but at the same time, my new goal would be just to become a better player and keep moving forward and developing myself as a player."

[Strafe] Also, if you were to win Worlds, that would be three consecutive international trophies for Gen.G this year. Do you think it would be fair to say then that this Gen.G squad was the best League of Legends team of all time?

"This is a hard question to answer because whether we will be referred to as the most successful team or the best, that's really up to our audience, the fans that are watching the games. And personally, I feel like rather than relying on how the world views us and evaluates us, regardless of that, we have all the determination to win Worlds in this current state. And I feel like I haven't really thought too grand about those achievements so far."

[Strafe] I would like to ask you about Duro. He came into the team with very little experience in the LCK and quickly became one of the best Support players in the world. So I'm curious, what's one aspect of his game that has impressed you the most?

"Given the lack of experience, that's something that could definitely weigh down on a player. And despite that, he's playing really well. I would say that something that I really was impressed by is, you know, during team fights, his attention to detail is just unlike other Supports. I think he's on a different level."

[Strafe] Before we wrap up, I'd like to ask you about this year's LCK format. It went through a lot of changes, but now that it's over and you get to look back, could you give me your thoughts on the new format? Is there anything you would change?

"I feel like it was an attempt for a meaningful change, and I personally can see what they were trying to do. When it comes down to having a longer regular season, which was my basic understanding of the whole change, I feel like when you end up making the regular season longer, then you need to put more value and more weight into the regular season in the end. And despite it being much longer, I feel like it had little to no impact in regards to the playoff schedule, let's say. So I feel like in the end, it didn't really make much difference in terms of the regular season's value."
