After qualifying to the Quarterfinals of Worlds 2025 earlier today, the G2 Esports news just keep on coming. Now, it appears the organization is set to form a new academy team to participate in EMEA's Tier-2 scene in 2026.

According to a report by Brieuc "LEC Wooloo" Seeger, the project may be given life through a collaboration with NORD Esports, the very team for which former G2 legend Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski last competed.

G2 Build New Academy Team

Should the project come into fruition, the plan would be for G2's new academy team to participate in the Prime League (the German Tier-2 league) in the coming season. By merging with NORD, the new team would be given a strong foundation, with the organization proving their commitment to the Tier-2 scene in 2025 with the addition of a former LEC champion such as Jankos to the roster.

No strangers to the world of collaborations, G2 already partnered with Team Heretics back in 2019 to create an academy team by the name of G2 Heretics. In more recent times, though, the organization distanced itself from the Tier-2 scene, fielding no academy squad over the last three years.

For the EMEA Tier-2 scene, the return of an organization as large and as successful as that of the reigning LEC champions would no doubt represent a more than welcomed addition. For G2, it would present the team with the chance to begin fostering the next generation of European talent right at home.
