The stage is set for the IEM Cologne Major 2026 Grand Final, as FURIA and Team Falcons will meet in a best-of-five series on June 21 at one of Counter-Strike's most historic venues, the Lanxess Arena. Both sides have enjoyed near‑flawless campaigns throughout the tournament and enter the decider in their finest form of the year.

In this preview, we break down the FURIA vs. Falcons Grand Final matchup, covering predictions, livestream details, and the compelling storylines that have defined this unforgettable Major.

FalleN Seeks His Third Major Trophy 10 Years Later on The Same Stage

After reaching their first‑ever Major Grand Final, FURIA now has the opportunity to make history as the third Brazilian team to win a Counter‑Strike Major. As you'd expect, FURIA's captain and the man who put Brazilian CS on the map, FalleN, was a key member of the team that won back‑to‑back Majors.

Coincidentally, FalleN won his last Major in the same stadium 10 years ago, as the cathedral of Counter‑Strike, the Lanxess Arena, witnessed the legendary SK Gaming roster dominate Team Liquid to win ESL One Cologne 2016.

With FalleN announcing his plans to retire by the end of the season — making IEM Cologne 2026 his second‑last (or even last) Major — much of the CS community has been rooting for the legend to win his third.

Falcons Face Grand Final Deja Vu; NiKo Chases Elusive First Major Title

With their semifinal victory over Team Spirit, Falcons find themselves in yet another Grand Final. Since the addition of m0NESY in early 2025, the team has lost seven consecutive Grand Finals, the latest being the CS Asia Championship 2026 in May. Falcons will look to finally put an end to this streak by winning their first‑ever CS Major.

NiKo also has a similar history with Grand Finals, though his poor luck is mostly limited to Majors. The veteran is gearing up for his third Major Grand Final. He previously took FaZe Clan to the Grand Final of the Boston 2018 Major and later led G2 to the Stockholm 2021 Grand Final as their star player.

Now, in 2026, NiKo makes yet another claim for the Major trophy over eight years after his first chance, alongside one of his then‑teammates, karrigan. And much like the super team NiKo was part of in 2018, Falcons boasts a squad capable of competing at the highest level, blending experienced veterans with young, explosive firepower.

FURIA vs Falcons

Current Form

FURIA enters this ultimate matchup after a flawless run at the IEM Cologne Major. Winning five matches in a row while conceding only two maps, the Brazilian roster carries strong momentum.

Following wins over B8, BetBoom, MOUZ, and 9z, FURIA faced the all‑Turkish Aurora roster in the semifinals. Given Aurora's historic run, this was expected to be a tough matchup. However, FURIA never took their foot off the pedal and dominated Aurora Gaming to secure a comfortable win.

Falcons, on the other hand, have enjoyed a near‑flawless run so far. Except for a Round 2 defeat to BetBoom, they won all their matches, securing crucial wins over G2, Monte, NAVI, and Vitality, before facing Spirit in the semifinals.

Defeating the world's best teams — Vitality and NAVI — and an in‑form G2 was challenging enough. However, they were put to the test most in the semifinals, where they faced a Team Spirit lineup that fought relentlessly.

Two overtime map wins in a match that kept the audience on the edge of their seats ultimately sent Falcons to the Grand Final, where they face a FURIA lineup that had a comparatively comfortable semifinal win.

Key Matchups

Karrigan vs. Fallen – Two veteran IGLs are set to face off in this grand showdown. On one side, we have one of the best players to come out of Brazil, a two‑time Major winner who has tasted success at the highest level for well over a decade. Apart from being a renowned in‑game leader, FalleN is also a reputed AWPer. Though he has passed AWPing duties over to molodoy, he was among the world's best AWPers at his peak.

On the other side, we have karrigan, who has also enjoyed a prolonged career as a top CS player. Over the years, his unique strategies and skills as a shot‑caller have helped multiple teams rise to the top. He famously led FaZe Clan to their first‑ever Major title. karrigan also holds the record for the most Majors played (22), and as of today would be tied for the record of most Major Grand Finals played (6), adding to his experience.

Map Vetoes

Since the Grand Final is a best‑of‑five series, both teams have only one map ban. FURIA's current perma‑ban is Ancient, while Falcons always bans Overpass. Based on that, we can expect the BO5 map pool to be Dust 2, Mirage, Inferno, Anubis, and Nuke (in no particular order).

Head-to-Head Results

The core rosters of FURIA and Falcons have faced off in eight matches so far, the latest being their quarterfinal bout at PGL Astana 2026. Of the eight, both teams have won four each. This includes 12 map wins for FURIA and 10 for Falcons. Interestingly, only one of these was a best‑of‑five, which FURIA won.

Notably, the two sides have met four times in 2026, with Falcons winning all four. Given that the most recent results are the most relevant, it's fair to say Falcons hold the advantage in that regard.

FURIA vs Falcons IEM Cologne 2026 Grand Final Predictions

Both FURIA and Falcons make strong claims for the Major title, and both have compelling storylines leading into the Grand Final. However, only one team can lift the trophy.

Throughout 2026, Falcons has defeated FURIA in all four of their encounters. However, their only BO5 meeting went in FURIA's favor. Falcons also have a poor history in Grand Finals, having lost three of them just in 2026 (to Legacy, Spirit, and PARIVISION). This, combined with their BO5 record against FURIA, puts them at a slight disadvantage.

In terms of squad strength, both teams appear evenly matched. They have veteran IGLs, experienced riflers, promising young talent, and exceptional AWPers. Both karrigan and FalleN are known for their ability to prepare structured strategies and counter‑strategize mid‑game. Paired with the firepower of their teammates, this promises to be an exciting match.

In terms of fitness, FURIA may hold the edge. They played their semifinal before Falcons and had a much smoother path to the finals. Falcons' last few matches included a grueling win against Spirit and a tight finish against Vitality, preceded by a close three‑map battle against NAVI. FURIA, by contrast, conceded 10 or more rounds in only three maps throughout the entire tournament.

Based on all of these factors, we expect FURIA to defeat Falcons in the IEM Cologne Major 2026 Grand Final. Falcons will still be hungry for their first‑ever Major, so we can expect a four‑ or five‑map entertainer, potentially with some overtime action.

How the XSE Pro League 2026 Became CS2's Biggest Disaster

Nobody expected the 2026 XSE Pro League to become the disaster it is right now, and that stings even more given the $1,000,000 prize pool attached to it. What was pitched as a big new stop on the Counter-Strike 2 calendar has instead spiraled into so much dysfunction that the community built an entire compilation thread just to keep up with it all.
