CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO) just took down the reigning world champions T1. Although in a Best-of-one (Bo1) setting, their performance and achievement were nonetheless impressive.

This now jettisons them into the 2-0 pool in the Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage and a single Best-of-three (Bo3) series away from qualification to the Knockout Stage.

CFO Continues to Impress: Lifting the Standard for the Pacific Region

If there remain any doubters, surely, they are silenced after this latest performance. CFO are the real deal; there can be no doubt about that. After a frustrating 2024 season in which CFO narrowly missed out on qualification to both MSI and Worlds, they kicked off an electric 2025 with a Kickoff win, punching their ticket to the inaugural First Stand tournament back in March.

CFO’s performance in the Group Stage was nothing short of applaudable, only losing to Hanwha Life Esports in the Round Robin Stage, and taking down names such as Top Esports, Team Liquid and eventual finalist Karmine Corp.

In the Knockout Stage, CFO would fall to a rematch against Karmine Corp, where the series went the full 5-game distance.

After winning the second LCP season, CFO again qualified to MSI 2025. Their opening series saw them face off against T1, narrowly losing the series 2-3 but impressing many with their performance. CFO would eventually fall to Anyone’s Legend in the Lower Bracket after a masterful performance from AL’s botlane duo to clinch the series, finishing within the top 6 of their second international event of the year.

Coming into Worlds 2025, CFO began their campaign with a clinical dismantling over Fnatic to move on to the 1-0 group. Drawing T1 as their second matchup, the rematch from MSI was highly anticipated. After an intense back-and-forth in the early game, it was eventually the combined efforts of the team that closed out the game against T1 with a commanding 15,000 gold lead.

Eyes on Another Knockout Stage Run

CFO’s 2025 season is far from over. With one more series to go, their team looks in good form and set for another deep run at their final international event of the season. Powered by a combination of young talent and a fearlessness to pull off strong teamplay, whoever draws them next will surely be tested.
