The newest inductee into the Hall of Legends has been officially announced, and it's none other than Europe's own Rasmus "Caps" Winther. Long-recognized as the best Western player in League of Legends history, this latest honor also serves to elevate Caps to heights shared so far only by the likes of Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok and Jian "Uzi" Zihao.

After nearly a decade of making the West proud on the international stage, Caps' induction sees the G2 Esports mid laner become the first Western player to make it into the Hall of Legends.

Caps: The Brighest Star in the Western Sky

It seems crazy to think that it has been almost 10 years since Caps made his debut at the top level of LoL esports with Fnatic. Though he only spent 2 years wearing the black and orange, the young mid laner's impact was immediately felt.

A year after his debut, Caps led Fnatic to a stellar 2018 campaign in which the team tore through all European competition, made it to the semifinals at MSI, and reached the Grand Finals at Worlds.

And that's where G2 came in. Despite being just 19 years old, nobody spoke of potential when talking about Caps; he was the real deal. So it was that G2 pulled off one of the best transfers in League of Legends history when they signed Caps for the start of the 2019 season. What followed was, and continues to be, one of the most successful player-organization partnerships of all time.

Just months after the move, Caps led G2 to the MSI 2019 trophy, a feat that no Western team has managed to match to date. That, however, was only the beginning.

Another Worlds Grand Finals appearance and a stacked count of regional trophies later, Caps continues to be the very embodiment of consistency, leadership, and adaptability that any team would be lucky to have at the helm.

One of the most beloved players in the West, and one of the most respected outside of it, Caps is simply one of a kind. Or, as Global Head of LoL Esports Chris Greeley put it:

"Caps always felt like the player you could never fully prepare for. He has that rare 'it' factor, the ability to rise in the biggest moments through his playmaking, leadership, and calming presence under pressure.

Caps has inspired an entire generation of Western players and earned the respect of fans around the world. He's not just one of the greatest League of Legends players of all time, he exemplifies everything we hope our esports heroes can be."

Caps' list of accolades includes:

  • x2 Worlds Grand Finalist (only Western player to reach the stage twice)
  • x1 MSI Champion
  • x1 First Stand Grand Finalist
  • x17 LEC trophies
  • x1 MSI MVP
  • x7 LEC Finals MVP
  • x4 LEC Split MVP

After becoming the first player hailing from the West to be inducted into the Hall of Legends, Caps is now officially the best Western League of Legends player of all time. Not that there was ever any doubt about it...

What Will Caps' Hall of Legends Skin Be?

According to several leaks from the PBE, Caps' Hall of Legends skin will be dedicated to Tristana. Though perhaps not the first champion you might think of when you think of the mid lane, the truth is that Caps as a player was largely responsible for the popularization of Tristana in his role instead of the bot lane back in 2023-2024.

The inductions of both Faker and Uzi into the Hall of Legends came accompanied with skins for two separate champions for each. With that in mind, it is still unclear who the second champion getting a Caps Hall of Legends skin will be.

Note that starting September 10 (with the launch of Patch 26.18), Caps will be honored with a Hall of Legends in-game event that is set to include an event pass guiding players through the Danish star's career in LoL esports.

More information regarding the event will be available on the official Hall of Legends website from August 24, so make sure to stay tuned!
