Akshan is a unique champion in League of Legends. He combines stealth, mobility, and ranged attacks with a passive that can bring teammates back from the dead. Understanding his kit and how to use it can give you a serious advantage in any match.

Who Is Akshan?

Akshan is known for his rogue-like behavior, sharp sense of justice, and a death-reversing weapon. He’s fast, slippery, and punishes scoundrels—literally. His kit lets him move through terrain, disappear into stealth, and quickly turn teamfights around by reviving fallen allies.

Passive – Dirty Fighting

Akshan’s passive gives him a two-hit combo. After every basic attack, he fires a second shot that deals 50% of his AD as physical damage. This shot can critically strike and applies all on-hit effects. If the second shot is cancelled, Akshan gains bonus movement speed that scales with his attack speed.

Dirty Fighting also adds stacks on-hit or when hitting enemies with abilities. Three stacks deal bonus magic damage and give Akshan a shield if the target is a champion. The shield cooldown is short, but it can only trigger every few seconds.

Tips for Dirty Fighting

Canceling the second shot can help reposition during a trade. If you're trying to close the gap or disengage, the bonus movement speed that comes from canceling the shot can be very useful. In fights, aim to hit three stacks quickly to trigger the bonus damage and shield. This gives Akshan a strong advantage during trades, especially against champions who lack burst damage.

Q – Avengerang

Avengerang is Akshan’s main poke and waveclear tool. He throws a boomerang that damages and reveals enemies. It extends in range each time it hits something. After reaching its peak, it returns, dealing damage again.

Hitting a champion gives Akshan a burst of movement speed. The ability deals reduced damage to non-champions.

Use Cases

Avengerang works well for lane pressure. You can use it to chip at enemies safely from a distance while also clearing minion waves. It’s also helpful for scouting hidden enemies in bushes or checking neutral objectives. Since it grants vision and movement speed, it can help you kite or chase during extended fights.

W – Going Rogue

Going Rogue has two parts: a passive and an active. The passive marks enemy champions as Scoundrels if they kill Akshan’s allies. Killing a Scoundrel revives all allies they’ve killed and grants Akshan extra gold.

The active makes Akshan go invisible near walls or in bushes. He stays camouflaged while near terrain and gains movement speed and mana regen when moving toward a Scoundrel.

Things to Know

Stealth breaks when Akshan attacks or casts abilities. Only enemies marked as Scoundrels who are finished off by Akshan himself will trigger the revive mechanic. If a Scoundrel dies to another source, the revive doesn't happen. Marks also disappear if the enemy dies by other means or after a certain period, so timing matters. It’s important to stay aware of who is marked so you can position yourself to secure the revive when it matters most.

E – Heroic Swing

Heroic Swing is Akshan’s mobility tool. He fires a hook into terrain, then swings around it while firing at the nearest visible enemy. He can use this three times before it goes on cooldown.

The swing stops if he hits a wall or enemy champion. The last shot comes after he dismounts, and each shot applies on-hit effects at partial strength.

Situational Use

  • Escape ganks by swinging over terrain.

  • Engage by surprising enemies from the fog of war.

  • Reset the cooldown quickly with takedowns.

R – Comeuppance

Akshan’s ultimate targets one enemy and locks on. He channels while loading bullets, then fires them in quick succession. Each shot deals more damage based on how much health the enemy is missing.

The bullets can hit minions or structures, but they always prioritize the locked target. Akshan can move during the channel but not attack or use most abilities.

Important Notes

  • Only one bullet can be blocked by a spell shield.

  • The ultimate cancels if the target dies or becomes untargetable.

  • Damage scales with critical strike chance and missing health.

Akshan’s Playstyle

Akshan is best played as a midlaner or ADC with strong roam potential. He thrives in skirmishes and punishes overextended enemies. His stealth and mobility let him scout and reposition quickly. The revival mechanic on his W can swing entire games when timed correctly.

He requires strong map awareness. You must track enemy kills to spot Scoundrels and know when to go in for the revive. Mistiming his engage can lead to early death since he is not very tanky.

Best Situations to Pick Akshan

  • The enemy team has squishy, immobile champions.

  • Your team benefits from quick revives in fights.

  • You want to punish assassins or divers that kill your backline.

Final Thoughts

Akshan is a high-skill champion with strong carry potential in League of Legends. His strength lies in movement, stealth, and calculated aggression. He can play solo or with a team, but he works best when you know how to capitalize on mistakes. Understanding his unique mechanics gives you the edge to turn fights around, secure objectives, and revive allies at the right time.

Mastering Akshan means learning when to take risks—and when to vanish into the shadows.
