The final LTA slot at Worlds 2025 is on the line. 100 Thieves and RED Canids will battle at the 2025 LTA Championship to decide which of the two conferences will have the privilege of sending two teams to the biggest League of Legends tournament of the year.
For 100 Thieves, this is about leaving the LTA with a bang while keeping North America's pride intact. For RED Canids, it's about putting Brazilian League of Legends on the map and making history for the region. Only one team can prevail; only one dream will endure.
With FlyQuest and Vivo Keyd Stars already qualified for Worlds, it all comes down to this. Catch the league's defining moment when 100 Thieves and RED Canids battle this Sunday, September 21st, starting at 1 pm PT.
100 Thieves: Saving North America
With 100T set to exit the LTA after the 2025 season draws to a close, the team will want to do everything they can to extend the duration of said season as much as possible. A loss to RED would mean that's it; season over, goodbye LTA (and LCS). A win, however, would allow the Thieves the chance to make their region pride at Worlds for one final time.
But really, it's about a whole lot more than that. If 100 Thieves lose their match to RED Canids, it would mark the first time in Worlds history that North America sends only a single team to the event. To save their region's pride, 100T will need to lock in and make every fight count when they take the stage to take on their Southern counterparts.
RED Canids: Making History
When RED take the stage, they won't be battling to save their region's pride, but to create a source of it. If RED defeat 100T, this would instead mark the first Worlds tournament in history with two Brazilian teams in attendance.
For a region that has always been dubbed a 'minor region', the idea of Brazil sending more teams to Worlds than, say, North America, has traditionally been simply inconceivable. Now, it stands as a real possibility, and RED will want to do everything they can to seize this chance here and now.
Key Matchup: Bot Lane Pressure
Over in the RED camp, much of the team's driving force stems from the bot lane. José Eduardo "Frosty" Leal's champion pool is proving to be bottomless, with the Brazilian support looking confident in his ability to shine and put his team over his shoulders no matter the pick.
In the wake of Frosty's flair, rookie ADC Guilherme "Rabelo" Muniz is finding enough room to do what he does best: put his mechanics to the test and dish out the pain. Against Shopify Rebellion, the RED bot lane proved difficult to contain, playing a large role in placing their team just one win away from qualifying to Worlds.
100T's all-Australian bot lane of Victor "FBI" Huang and Bill "Eyla" Nguyen, meanwhile, needs no introduction. With countless hours of LTA/LCS experience combined, neither player's journey through North America has come without its bumps. Over time, though, the duo has turned into a reliable presence for their team down under.
When the two teams clash, RED are likely to look to pressure the 100T bot lane into submission. Whether FBI and Eyla succumb, however, remains to be seen.
Prediction: Who Goes to Worlds?
As a final match of the season for whoever goes down, both teams will want to leave it all on the line in their LTA Championship clash.
Historically, North America has been the stronger region, which should mean that 100 Thieves have faced tougher competition all year long, and should have more tools at their disposal. RED doesn't just have the chance to prove this wrong, though, but also make Brazilian League of Legends history while doing so.
With so much on the line, expect this matchup to be explosive, hard-fought, and possibly go the distance.
Prediction: 100 Thieves' rise in form over the last month should prove enough to see them take down RED Canids in 3-1 fashion, securing one final Worlds appearance for the organization.
