You Can't Win Them All: Three Lessons From PARIVISION at EWC 2025

PARIVISION is one of the strongest teams of 2025 but unfortunately finished in third place at the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC 2025). Now that the tournament is over and things have settled down, the organization has released a documentary showing the final day of the event on their YouTube channel (@parivisiongg).

Despite not achieving the outcome they hoped for, finishing third on such a big stage is a huge accomplishment. Let’s look at three important lessons from this story. Filipe "Astini" Ribeiro and Volodymyr "No[o]ne-" Minenko share insights born of age and experience. When veterans like these two speak, it’s worth listening and learning.

But What If I Jump? — 3:50

First, we have a lesson in self-control delivered through Astini’s wise words. Speaking to the team, he explains how pride can sometimes get the better of us. Every now and then, when your team isn’t playing well, you decide to jump on an enemy who just killed you moments ago. You believe you can outplay him — but maybe you shouldn’t.

“What if I jump? He's really curious to know, you know? It's like playing a poker hand. You know you lost, you pay your money to look at the guy's hand.”

This was directed at Alan "Satanic" Gallyamov but applies to any lane. The point is to remind him (and us) that even when you’re winning your lane, you don’t always need to push harder and force TPs. Sometimes the best way to use your advantage is to save it for the right moment.

Fake It ‘Till You Make It — 22:50

Next comes the first nugget of wisdom from No[o]ne-, after PARIVISION lost 2–0 to Team Spirit in the EWC 2025 Playoffs. Satanic was especially affected by this defeat, so Volodymyr tried to lift his spirits. Even when things are hard, sometimes you have to pretend to be okay and keep moving forward.

“Cheer yourself up a little bit. Try to fake your mood — that’s a good thing. You know, fake it ‘till you make it.”

In contrast to Astini’s advice, No[o]ne- reminds Alan that sometimes you do need to be cocky or bold, even when you don’t feel like it. Like everything in life, Dota 2 is about balance: the best players know when to dive in and when to hold back. Be aggressive when you should, fake confidence when you must, and play passive when it baits your opponent into making mistakes.

Life Isn’t Set Up So You Can Win Everything — 25:18

Finally, the best advice No[o]ne- gives to Satanic in this video. Alan was frustrated after winning Game 1 against Tundra Esports because he felt his performance didn’t matter — a slip we can forgive.

“It’s just that even if I win this game, I can’t win the tournament.”

“So what? That means you can win the next one. Look, life isn’t set up so you can win everything.”

“I get it.”

“We are a strong team.”

“It’s just that my game doesn’t affect my tournament winnings right now.”

“Okay, but you can win TI — you can set the pace now to win TI.”

Like Satanic, every time we lose a pub game we get tilted, and we let it affect our next match. The thing is, every defeat is a step toward your next win. PARIVISION has won plenty before their EWC 2025 third place — and they’ll probably win again. No[o]ne- has won and lost a lot, but now he’s back at the top. It would be beautiful to see his vision of a TI win come true, proving this point to Alan forever.

Final Thoughts

We win and lose every day. What matters is controlling your feelings when you win and not letting losses keep you down. Knowing when to use your strengths, when to speak, when to listen, and when to trust more experienced teammates — this all translates to life.
