Team Falcons has officially left the competitive Dota 2 scene. The Saudi Organization disbanded the roster and ended its participation in the game. The organization stated that the decision follows a “strategic review” of its multi‑title esports roadmap for 2026 and beyond.

In its statement, Falcons said its goal is to build “long‑term, high‑impact programs across global esports” and that its global focus is shifting toward ecosystems that offer “greater strategic alignment and long‑term operational sustainability."

The organization emphasized that, while Dota 2 “holds a legendary place in competitive gaming,” it is prioritizing titles and regions that better match its long‑term operational and strategic priorities.

What happened and when

Team Falcons published a farewell video and message on its official channels, thanking players, staff, and fans and confirming that the organization would step away from Dota 2.

The announcement came shortly after The International 2026, where Falcons finished in the 7th–8th place range following a lower‑bracket playoff loss to Team Liquid, ending its title defense one year after winning TI 2025.

The organization entered Dota 2 in November 2023 with a five‑man roster consisting of Oliver “skiter” Lepko, Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak, Ammar “ATF” Al‑Assaf, Andreas “Cr1t‑” Nielsen, and Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu, coached by Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling.

That lineup remained intact for almost three years, an unusually stable tenure in professional Dota 2, and was still active through TI 2026 before Falcons confirmed its departure in early September 2026.

Accolades, Milestones, and much more

During its time in Dota 2, Team Falcons won nine Tier 1 tournaments, including The International 2025, and frequently appeared in late‑stage playoff brackets at premier events.

With Falcons leaving Dota 2, all five core players from the roster have been listed as free agents by transfer trackers and esports databases, while their future teams have not yet been officially confirmed.

Coach Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling has confirmed his retirement from competitive coaching, and support player Andreas “Cr1t‑” Nielsen stated that TI 2026 was “probably the last TI” for him, further marking the end of the long‑running Falcons Dota 2 project.

The organization’s exit contributes to a broader reshaping of the upper tier of competition during the post‑TI 2026 shuffle, with several top‑tier organizations also confirming major roster changes or disbandments.

Are more organizations set to leave Dota 2?

Falcons’ exit arrives during a post‑TI 2026 shuffle in which several top‑tier organizations have already confirmed major roster changes or full disbandments, including Vici Gaming and Virtus.pro.

Industry coverage has increasingly framed Dota 2’s ecosystem as struggling to prove sustainable for organizations outside a narrow elite, with high operational costs, volatile prize distribution, and limited publisher‑backed league structures compared to other major esports.

In that context, Falcons’ explicit reference to “long‑term operational sustainability” is being read by analysts and journalists as a signal that more organizations could follow a similar path if revenue models and ecosystem support do not improve.

For now, no additional org has publicly announced a full exit from Dota 2, but the combination of high‑profile departures, coach retirements, and roster dissolutions is fueling speculation that the title may face further contraction before the next season stabilizes.
