Vici Gaming Are the ESL Challenger China Season 3 Champions

ESL Challenger China Season 3 has concluded, with Vici Gaming emerging as champions. They secured not only the first-place prize money but also a slot at the Esports World Cup.

Vici Gaming won the Grand Final against Team Resilience, whose performance was one of the tournament’s biggest surprises, especially after their victory over Xtreme Gaming in the Upper Bracket Final.

Vici Gaming prevailed and added another Chinese organization to the EWC 2026 lineup.

Team Resilience: A Welcome Surprise

Despite the Chinese scene often revolving around teams like Xtreme Gaming and Vici Gaming, the ESL Challenger introduced a potential new contender.

Team Resilience may be a new name, but its roster features established figures in Chinese Dota 2, such as Yang "Erika" Shaohan, Xu "Echo" Ziliang, and Lin "planet" Hao.

Team Resilience punched their way up from the start until the Grand Final.

Team Resilience went against the odds from the start by winning against Team Refuser featuring Monet and Paparazi. Their second match was against Vici Gaming and they got another astounding victory by 2-0.

Finally, their miraculous run ended after beating Xtreme Gaming on the Upper Bracket Final, also by 2-0. Team Resilience got to the Grand Final without dropping a single map on the way.

Even Xtreme Gaming was not enough to stop Resilience on their way to the Grand Final.

Xtreme Gaming would fall to the Lower Bracket Final and wait for their rivals to climb their way up the ladder after getting booted down by the very same Team Resilience.

Vici Gaming: Going Through the Scenic Route

Vici Gaming also won their debut against Cloud Dawning but soon after fell to the Lower Bracket after losing against Team Resilience. From this point onward, their first step was a victory by 2-0 against Roar Gaming.

Apparently fans did not believe in Vici Gaming coming back after losing to Resilience.

On the Lower Bracet Semifinal, Vici Gaming had a hard time getting past the Yakult Brothers and won by 2-1 after an hour long match on the third map.

Finally, Vici Gaming would meet Xtreme Gaming on an unlikely Lower Bracket Final and turn the table to win by 2-1 after starting with the disadvantage of losing the first map.

This matchup was expected on the Grand Final, not down here.

Vici Gaming Are the ESL Challenger China Season 3 Champions

After making a perfect run to the Grand Final, Team Resilience's performance was a bit underwhelming considering that they started with the advantage winning 1-0 but ended up losing by 3-1.

Vici Gaming needed one extra map to get the hang of how Resilience was playing and after that they won 3 maps back to back to become the ESL Challenger China Season 3 Champions.

Vici Gaming took a big slice of the prize money and a ticket to the EWC 2026.

Along with the $90,000 prize money for first place, Vici Gaming also added another Chinese organization to the EWC 2026 lineup. Team Resilience got a well deserved $40,000 for second place and Xtreme Gaming got $20,000 for third place.

This means that Vici Gaming has no pressure to perform on DreamLeague Season 29 and at the same time, will be taking important EPT Points from other teams that are yet to punch their ticket to Riyadh.

Closing Thoughts

The ESL Challenger is a new initiative inside the ESL Pro Tour that seems to give a new angle on regional disputes for slots in Tier 1 tournaments and might establish the model for other regions in the near future.

Now, the only step between teams and the Esports World Cup 2026 is DreamLeague. The tournament starts on May 13 and will decide the remaining teams to get direct invites via ESL Leaderboard.
