Games so Far: Who’s Coming Out on Top of University Rocketeers Spring?

There are 16 teams competing in this round robin best of 5 tournaments in this second season of the CRL this year. That’s a whole load of games to keep up with! It may come as no surprise that after 5 series, Columbia College is currently leading the pack. In fact, they’ve gone 15 - 3, which is a truly unbelievable result.

On the other end of the spectrum, fans of California Polytechnic State University may be a little disappointed to find out that they’re currently sitting 6 - 12 after 4 series. This may not be their first rodeo but it’s, unfortunately, one of their worst.

But! Fear not. There are still a lot of games left to come. With a little less than a month of competition left to go, there’s really no telling where all of the teams will fall in the end. The teams that make it to the top 8 will move on to the playoffs. Overall, the top 3 will earn a coveted place at the CRL Spring 23 National Championship.

What is University Rocketeers? - A long standing tradition

CRL was first established in 2017. It's a way to give college students the opportunity to compete in esports and represent their schools in Rocket League. The league in the US is divided into two divisions: East and West. The regular season typically runs from September to November, followed by a playoff tournament in December.

CRL has grown in popularity since its inception. It has become a major part of the college esports scene in North America. Sometimes, those players go on to compete in the RLCS, and since EG released its roster, there are some places free!

The Collegiate Rocket League provides a platform for students to showcase their skills in a competitive setting and has helped to legitimize esports as a viable career option.

Finally, it's worth noting that Rocket League itself is a highly entertaining game to watch and has a large following in the esports community. If you’re missing out on the RLCS series at the moment, it’s the perfect way to fill the gap. Its unique combination of soccer and vehicular gameplay makes for a fast-paced and action-packed viewing experience, and the professional players competing in Rocket League tournaments are known for their incredible skill and teamwork.
