After two tumultuous months with their new roster, The MongolZ have decided to bring back Anarbileg “cobrazera” Uuganbayar and add CS:GO alumnus — Yesuntumur “nin9” Gantulga — to the Counter-Strike roster.

A Fall from the Top

In the VRS leaderboard update released in October last year, the MongolZ were leading the global rankings and were considered a top contender at any and every tournament they played in.

They carried Asia to the grand finals of the Austin Major 2025. Followed it up with an EWC trophy and had the talent to challenge the overlords of Team Vitality.

Then came the shocking news: “The MongolZ benched Senzu.” This was the beginning of the end for the Mongolian squad. They started slipping out of the top 4, struggling to clinch playoffs and missing them entirely.

Their performance at the second Major of 2025 was nothing to ride home on either, especially considering the roster peak everyone was familiar with.

Finally, 2026 was terrible, with a #3 at PGL Bucharest being the only bright spot. At Cologne Major 2026, they failed to qualify for the Playoffs, something they had achieved for three consecutive Majors.

This prompted MongolZ to make changes, bringing in tikuak and darkmeister for cobrazera and mzinho. This move did not work as intended. Today, they are on the verge of losing their #1 spot on the Asia VRS leaderboard to TYLOO and are far from the top of the global leaderboard.

Project Hail Mary

As a last-ditch attempt to salvage their 2026, the organisation has made another change to the roster. This time, bringing back former members with tier 1 experience to replace the youngsters. The first is cobrazera, who was brought in to replace senzu and displayed some good CS while on the roster.

Another returning member is nin9, who previously donned the MongolZ jersey back in 2018 alongside maaRa, who was still a player at the time. nin9’s experience as an IGL will definitely benefit the young squad. But it’d be a surprise if the MongolZ reach the heights they achieved with Senzu and Mzinho on the roster.

For the rest of the year, the MongolZ roster will be as follows:

  • Garidmagnai “bLitz” Byambasuren
  • Sodbayar “Techno” Munkhbold
  • Usukhbayar “910” Banzragch
  • Anarbileg “cobrazera” Uuganbayar
  • Yesuntumur “nin9” Gantulga
  • Erdenedalai “maaRaa” Bayanbat (Coach)

They will debut at 1win Private Club#2 and will play PGL Masters Bucharest later this month.
