Valve has released the list for the direct invites for the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year. The International 2025 will have eight directly invited teams, with eight more coming in from open and closed qualifiers.

The directly invited teams will be at the main events, while qualifying teams have to go through the "Road to The International" to make it to Germany.

The Dota 2 competitive scene has been dominated by Europe for the last few years. Nearly every major tournament has a team from Europe taking the trophy, with Team Falcons being the only exception. It's arguable if Valve sees Falcons as a MESWA team, since they don't include qualifiers for that region.

Either way, there are three teams from Western Europe which are Team Liquid the defending champions, Tundra Esports, and Gaimin Gladiators. Gladiators are a slight surprise, as they haven't had a steller year but still managed to qualify for most major tournaments.

Eastern Europe will also be represented by a TI champion. Team Spirit received a direct invite, along with BetBoom Team, and arguably the strongest squad right now, Parivision. BB team might look a bit surprising, but they ended the 2024 year with four strong showings.

China gets one direct invite. Team Tidebound will represent the region. Renamed All Gamers Global, they haven't excelled in any tournament but they were able to take games off the strongest teams in the world. It's still a bad state for the region, but it could be worse.

Southeast Asia, and both American regions got no invites for the event. Both Americas will have one slot from qualifiers while SEA gets two. Either way, the regions don't support he same competitive teams nor fanbase that the game enjoyed years ago.

Open Qualifiers for The International 2025 will start on the 31st of June and conclude of the 5th of July. Closed Qualifiers will begin on the 4th and end by the 17th of June. At which point we will know all the teams attending the event.
