PGL Bucharest 2025 has come to a dramatic close, and few could have predicted the outcome. In what can only be described as a massive upset, Team Falcons swept tournament favorites of G2 Esports 3-0 in the Grand Finals, lifting their first-ever Counter-Strike trophy since entering the professional scene in 2020.

Heading into the final, many—including us—had already written the Falcons off. G2, showing great consistency and firepower, were expected to cruise to victory. But from the very first round on Mirage, Falcons shattered all expectations.

A Clean Sweep with Style

Falcons set the tone early, taking the opening pistol round and never looking back. Mirage ended in a dominant 13-5, with G2 looking lost for answers. Nuke followed with a slightly closer 13-7 scoreline, but it was really just more of the same: coordinated aggression, sharp shooting, and unrelenting pressure from Falcons. Finally, on Ancient, the underdogs closed the series 13-8—never letting G2 hit double digits on any map.

Abdul "degster" Gasanov was once again in god mode, replicating his heroics from the Semifinal series versus FaZe Clan. While Nikola "NiKo" Kovač managed to rack up the most kills in the series, degster outshone everyone in terms of impact and rating. Even Emil "Magisk" Reif, despite an unremarkable stat line, delivered key rounds when it mattered most.

A First Taste of Glory for the Falcons

This title marks the first-ever championship for the Falcons organization in Counter-Strike after years of roster instability and disappointing showings. The same can also be said for both degster as well as in-game leader Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski - a long-awaited personal milestone for both. The win also marks a return to the winner’s circle for Head Coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen, who was able to lead his team to a trophy for the first time since the BLAST.tv Paris Major in 2023.

While celebrations are well-earned, the future of this Falcons roster remains murky. With rumors swirling about Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov potentially joining the team, all eyes are on who he might replace—most fingers pointing toward degster despite his tournament MVP-worthy run at PGL Bucharest 2025.

Regardless of what’s next, Falcons will head into IEM Melbourne with newfound confidence—and maybe, just maybe, a little bit of swagger.
