SEA Is Eliminated From The International 14, While America Soars
The International 14 continues to astound and delight viewers, with some of the best Dota 2 games at TI group stage. The new match-up system Valve is using has ensured each match matters, with players giving it their all in every series.
With the dust settled on the group stage, one region has been eliminated, while another has clawed their way back to the main stage.
BOOM Esports is eliminated in the most heart breaking fashion
The series between BOOM Esports and Wildcards was an incredible nail-biter. Two teams facing elimination, with a 1-1 score in game three. Wildcards had controlled the entire game, but an incredible Aegis steal allowed BOOM to regain control.
Until BOOM decided to dive into the enemy high ground without buybacks and throw the game in exactly six seconds. A heart-breaking conclusion for SEA fans, as they now have no representative at TI.
But while one region falls, another ascends. South America proved themselves on the last day of the group stage. Heroic took down Tundra Esports in a convincing 2-0 fashion. They subsequently punched their ticket to the main event by defeating last-second invite Yakult Brothers.
Four more spots remain for the main event and we already know the match ups. Aurora Gaming takes on fan favorites Nigma Galaxy for a spot. Will Eastern Europe secure a second spot in the playoffs or will MENA take another? Both teams are quite inconsistent, so we are looking forward to that series.
Parivision takes on Wildcard. The only hope for North America against the most unpredictable team of the tournament. While we hope to see a resurgence for NA, our money is going to be on Parivision for this one.
Team Liquid plays Tundra Esports, two TI winning organizations. With Whitemon gone, Tundra has looked like a shadow of their former selves, and we back Liquid on this one.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly for the tournament, it's Team Spirit vs Team Falcons. The two recently brawled it out in Fissure Universe Episode 6, with Falcons taking the crown. Overall, Spirit has looked lackluster this tournament. For that reason, we believe Falcons will again come out on top.
