With the Rocket League Fall Invitationals just around the corner, the new season is going to bring out a whole new level of competition. With Worlds wrapping up in August, fans don’t have to wait long for the next tournaments to begin.

Now, with more Rocket League tournaments coming and the game gaining popularity quickly, new fans will be looking to find which team to follow through the leagues! It’s not as simple as seeing which org is the most popular, there are a tonne of criteria that can make the best team in Rocket League.

Top teams of 2022 - The top 4 at RLCS World Championships

Like most esports, the Rocket League pro tournaments are split into leagues, three Majors and a final World Championships. Teams have to earn enough RLCS circuit ranking points in order to qualify for the top leagues and make it to Worlds. Some of the most famous orgs in the world are starting to expand into Rocket League as it gains popularity so there may be some names that you recognize. The teams that finished in the top 4 this year are:

  • Team BDS
  • G2 Esports
  • FURIA Esports
  • FaZe Clan.

Despite their amazing win at Worlds in August, BDS have been known to carve a rocky path. Having placed 13th-16th at the Spring Split Major, it wasn’t looking good for them coming into the final tournament. However, they managed to storm through the group stage and take a decisive victory from G2 in the finals after going 4-1.

Another aspect of the RLCS leagues is the inclusion of an MVP for each region. The MVP is not necessarily the team that wins but the team that performs best overall, making it a great way to gauge which teams are worth following in the coming leagues.

What’s to come for Rocket League? - New season, new teams

This next season will take place across the seven regions including Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific, Sub-Saharan Africa and more. Rocket League is one of the only esports in the world that includes so many regions. The teams will need to compete in Fall, Winter and Spring seasons, all of which culminate in a Major. Why so many tournaments? This gives teams as many chances as possible to earn enough points to finish the year at Worlds.

This year, Moist Esports seemingly came from nowhere and won the last Major of the year. They made it all the way through to the playoffs of Worlds but were knocked out in the quarterfinals by FURIA.

With so much Rocket League left to come, it’ll be interesting to see which regions are going to have the biggest showings at the coming Majors. The first season is starting on November 4th and the first Major is due to take place from 8th - 11th December in Rotterdam.
