A week has passed since ESL One Raleigh crowned its champions, and now Season 4 of the PGL Wallachia is upon us. Sixteen teams will fight for the lion’s share of a $1 million prize pool, with Team Liquid entering as the reigning champions.

Take a look at the finer details of the last major PGL tournament before The International. We’ll break down the tournament format and preview the matchups for the first round of the Group Stage, which kicks off on April 19 in Bucharest, Romania.

PGL Wallachia is back for the season 4.
Sixteen teams will soon clash in the Wallachia Group Stage.

PGL Wallachia Season 4: Format & Organization

Let’s look at how the tournament is organized. The Group Stage will follow the adapted Swiss format. All 16 teams will play five rounds starting on April 19, and by April 23, half of them will be eliminated.

Every match is a best-of-three series. From the second round onward, teams are paired based on their current win-loss records. Teams that secure three wins advance to the playoffs, while those with three losses are eliminated.

The playoffs run from April 24 to April 27 in a traditional double-elimination bracket. All teams start in the upper bracket and need two losses to be eliminated.

As usual, the Grand Finals will be a best-of-five. The team that emerges victorious will take home $300,000 — almost a third of the total prize pool.

Invited Talent Lineup

Next, let’s talk about the broadcast talent bringing this event to life.

Hosts: The familiar duo of Sheever and Richard Lewis will be your hosts, likely alternating throughout the event. Sideline Reporter: Nomad will cover interviews and in-between-match segments. Stats: Leamare returns as the numbers magician. Analysts: Teaguvnor, Jenkins, Fear, and Lizzard make up the analyst desk.

On-site Casters: Bkop, Lacoste, ODPixel, and Fogged — expect the OD-Fogged combo to return. Remote Casters: Johnxfire, MLP, Snare, and Synderen will be casting remotely, although it’s still unclear whether they’ll pair with each other or mix with on-site casters. Observers: skrff, Weppas, PTP, and Eosin will man the cameras and, undoubtedly, catch flak for every missed play.

PGL Wallachia Season 4: Schedule

Now let’s look at the first round of Group Stage matchups. Since this is the opening round, teams are paired by PGL (no prior record is factored in).

Group Stage - Round 1

As noted, Mosquito Clan has rebranded once again and will compete as Edge in PGL Wallachia Season 4.

So far, there have been no reports of visa issues or travel complications. However, Nigma Galaxy will be playing without Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi, who continues his extended break due to an ongoing (undisclosed) health issue.

Must-Watch Matches of Round 1

Finally, let’s highlight a couple of first-round matchups that are worth setting an alarm for.

PARIVISION vs AVULUS – This clash might not seem evenly matched on paper, but AVULUS has historically done well against PARIVISION. After winning ESL One Raleigh, PARIVISION comes in as a heavy favorite — but this could be the upset of the day.

Team Liquid vs Nigma GalaxyLiquid are the defending Wallachia champs, while Nigma Galaxy are still trying to reclaim their former glory. With Ghost standing in for Miracle-, Nigma will aim to put on a strong showing.

Nigma Galaxy's 2025 campaign has had some highlights, including a Top 4 finish at BLAST Slam II and an 8th place showing at ESL One Raleigh. A win here would be huge.

PGL Wallachia Season 4 will be streamed live on PGL’s official Twitch and YouTube channels. Matches will be split between Stream A and Stream B — if you can’t find the game you want, check the alternate stream or the tab of active streams on YouTube.
