We have the first casualty of the Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage — Movistar KOI defeated Fnatic 2-1 to survive another day.

Movistar KOI 2-1 Fnatic

The LEC matchup featured three swift games. Despite Fnatic striking first, MKOI bounced back by securing an early gold lead. Although Fnatic found some picks around the Rift, MKOI’s superior teamfighting helped them secure objectives and snowball the game.

Fnatic responded in Game 2, completely dominating MKOI in the early game and capitalizing on their lead for a landslide victory. Game 3 was much more closely contested, but MKOI’s stronger teamfights once again secured key objectives and the win, eliminating their LEC peers Fnatic from the competition.

Worst Worlds Placement for Fnatic

With this loss, Fnatic exits Worlds 2025, matching the worst placement in the organization’s long history.

While the Swiss Stage format may have played a part in Fnatic’s 0-3 exit, their performance across all matches was disappointing. They began against the LCP’s CTBC Flying Oyster — a tough opponent despite playing outside a league as big as the LCK or the LPL.

Their Round 2 opponents, Bilibili Gaming, are currently 1-2 down after losing to G2 Esports in the 1-1 bracket. Finally, facing a familiar opponent in MKOI, Fnatic were completely outclassed, capping off a poor showing at Worlds 2025.

In the second elimination series, Vivo Keyd Stars upset PSG Talon 2-1, eliminating the LCP third seed and keeping the LTA South’s hopes alive.

The Worlds 2025 action continues next week with Round 4 and 5.
