Hearthstone Patch 35.4: Class Sets debut, Dual Class Arena returns

Hearthstone Patch 35.4 brings Class Sets, Dual Class Arena, and new events

Patch 35.4 went live on May 5, 2026, as the first major content update to the Restoration of Azeroth expansion. The patch introduces Class Sets for four classes, a new Dual Class Arena season with a curated draft pool, two limited-time events that run through early June, and a long list of bug fixes spread across all game modes.

Class Sets make their debut in Restoration of Azeroth

Class Sets are a new type of card release in Hearthstone. Druid, Hunter, Mage, and Paladin each receive a focused collection of seven new cards built entirely around that class. Each set has one Legendary, two Epics, two Rares, and two Commons. Blizzard plans three waves of Class Sets across the year: four classes per wave, one wave after each major expansion.

The four Restoration of Azeroth Class Sets are available individually at $9.99 USD, 1,000 Runestones, or 1,200 Gold each. The bundle with all four sets, two copies of Cultivating Sprite, and the Volcanic Krush Lite Hero Skin costs $19.99 USD, 2,000 Runestones, or 2,500 Gold. The Golden bundle, which has all cards in Golden form and two Cultivating Sprite Signature cards, is priced at $79.99 USD, 8,000 Runestones, or 12,000 Gold.

Dual Class Arena returns with a fully curated pool

The new Arena season began on May 5 with the return of Dual Class Arena. Players choose two classes and draft cards from both. All active Arena runs ended at patch launch, and the new season started from scratch. The card pool for this season was chosen specifically for two-class play, rather than drawn from the standard rotation.

The Arena UI was updated to reflect the two-class format. Both chosen classes now appear under the player's name during matches. Class Banners appear during the draft phase, and Hero Powers are offered as the first choice of each draft, so players know from the opening pick that they are in a Dual Class season.

Two events run through late May and early June

Forging the Dragon Soul runs from May 5 through May 26. Players lend their strength to the heroes of Azeroth, who must build their own Dragon Soul to counter a Deathwing from an alternate timeline where he emerged victorious and claimed the artifact for himself. Completing the event rewards:

  • 1× Mage Pack
  • 1× Druid Pack
  • 1× Hunter Pack
  • 1× Paladin Pack
  • 1× Golden Cataclysm Pack
  • Raid Finder Card Back

Darkmoon Faire Treasures returns with Dragonqueen Alexstrasza

From May 5 through May 26, Darkmoon Faire Treasures runs with a new prize lineup. The headline item is Dragonqueen Alexstrasza, a Mythic Hero Skin for both Druid and Mage. The skin has custom animations: she descends onto the board with a burst of red magic and rises from the Hero Portrait for the attack animation.

Darkmoon Faire Treasures is a random-pull system that can reward Pets, Mythic Skins, Signature cards, Hero Skins, and more. The first pull is free. Subsequent pulls require Runestones. Every pull guarantees a prize from the active pool.

Free packs and the Diamond Al'Akir bundle

Four weeks of free packs are available through the Battle.net Shop during the Patch 35.4 window. The week of May 5 gives one Golden Cataclysm Pack. The three weeks from May 12 through June 2 each give one standard Cataclysm Pack. Each pack must be claimed during its active week.

Starting May 5, the Diamond Al'Akir Bundle goes on sale one week before its standard release date, at a lower price than the regular rate. The bundle includes the Diamond Al'Akir Hero Skin for Shaman, three Shaman Packs, and two Golden Standard Packs.

Twist retired and bugs fixed across all modes

Twist was retired with Patch 35.4 and removed from game mode selection. Blizzard's Game Director addressed the reasons for the decision in a separate post.

The bug fix list is long. In Constructed, corrections address Dread Leviathan, Gronn Giant, Timelord Nozdormu, Ruby Sanctum, Brilliant Macaw, Liferender, Wickerfang, Cyborg Patriarch, and more than 20 other cards. In Battlegrounds, fixes cover Underhanded Dealer, Cannon Corsair, Catacomb Crasher, Replica Cathedral, and several Accord-o-Tron interactions. On the cosmetics side, the Deathling pet skin, Banshee Queen Sylvanas, Signature Ysera, and Mythic Turalyon each had visual or functional errors that were corrected.

What to watch after Patch 35.4

Class Sets are the main change to track this patch. Each set adds seven cards to a single class, and the question is whether any of the 28 new cards across Druid, Hunter, Mage, and Paladin can shift deck archetypes in Standard. Hunter and Paladin in particular will draw attention, as both had aggressive archetypes near the top of the meta before this update.

In Arena, the first days of data from the Dual Class season will show which two-class pairings produce the most consistent win rates. Classes with strong standalone removal and flexible minion curves have historically performed well in Dual Class drafts. The curated pool adds a new variable, since players have no advance knowledge of which cards will appear until they sit down to draft.
