A month after launch, GOALS is already unveiling a preliminary roadmap for a 2026 competitive circuit. For a game marketed around skill-focused gameplay, it comes as little surprise that they are already angling for the highest levels of play.

With the goal of creating their own esports ecosystem, GOALS aims to ‘establish a sustainable and inclusive competitive scene for players at every level.’

Two Pillars to Anchor the Circuit: Majors and Masters

At the heart of this new competitive circuit will be 2 debuting tournaments — Majors and Masters. They are considered the two pillars around which the GOALS competitive scene will be built.

Majors is described as online tournaments held throughout the year. Top 500 players on the GOALS global leaderboard will be given the opportunity to qualify and prove themselves at these events.

Then, there’s Masters. This is their elite, cream-of-the-crop tournament; GOALS’ TI, Worlds, Champions, Major, etc. Crucially, it will be an offline championship tournament, bringing together the world’s best GOALS players. Qualification is earned either through previous championship performances or via demanding Top 500 qualifier stages.

“GOALS is introducing a structured professional circuit designed to ensure that skill alone determines who rises through the ranks.”

Community Powered Ecosystem

Around the Majors and Masters will be a plethora of opportunities. While those two events will form the highest peaks of professional play for GOALS, the publisher has stated their intentions to ‘empower community organizers, amateur competitors, and regional leagues.’

This is done with the aid of GOALS, who will provide the tools and support, and independent tournament organizers, taking inspiration from open professional circuits like Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2.

Which is no accident, as GOALS CEO Andreas “bds” Thorstensson is a former Counter-Strike player and manager. From the early 2000s to 2001, he competed professionally before transitioning into the managing director role for SK Gaming from 2001 until 2009.

“Community organizers and creators will gain access to rewards, tournament tools, and advanced spectator features designed to make hosting and broadcasting competitions seamless. To support grassroots competition, GOALS will provide official prize pools featuring in-game packs for community-run events, rewarding both organizers and competitors.”

Keen fans of GOALS — from the enthusiastic local representative to more established tournament organizers — will receive support from the publisher to host their own tournaments.

Already in Motion

Having only officially launched last month, GOALS are already making announcements that their competitive circuit will kick off on this Summer with the launch of their official debut tournament — GOALS Open.

GOALS Open seeks to give ‘aspiring players their first opportunity to establish themselves on the global stage’, with Regional Pre-Qualifiers beginning in August from the 7th to the 9th. Winners from each open qualifier will advance to the Regional Finals from August 14th-16th.

The Regionals Finals will be divided across 3 competitive territories:

  • Europe and Africa
  • Americas
  • Asia, Middle East, and Pacific

The top performers from each regional finals will then earn invitations to the GOALS Open Grand Finals in Stockholm, Sweden on September 12th where they will compete for a share of the $10,000 prize pool.

Registration for GOALS Open opens on July 20th. Stay tuned for more information.
