‘GOALS’ is a new online football game title designed by its namesake studio based in Stockholm, Sweden. Framed as a free-to-play, competitive, online title, ‘GOALS’ seeks to enter the competitive sports-esport cross-section with the tagline as the “next evolution of football gaming experiences.”

What Makes the GOALS Experience Different?

The press release pitches GOALS as a game based and designed on ‘pure football’ philosophy, where the better player always comes out on top. The claim is based on their focus on competitive integrity, and a skill-focused system.

“Built with competitive integrity in mind, there are no external mechanics or rubber-banding systems dictating outcomes: every pass, tackles, and shot relies entirely on individual precision, timing, and split-second reaction.”

The fuel behind both the game and the claims is GOALS’ proprietary game engine SENTEC. “We’ve been able to create a pure football experience in GOALS through SENTEC, our own Simulation Engine and Netcode Technology,” says Torbjörn Söderman, Technical Director for GOALS.

“This ensures that movement, collisions, and ball interaction happen instantly, and without delay for both players,” he continued. “No matter where you are and what you’re playing on, we’ve created a responsive, lag-free experience resulting in fluid football gameplay that allows you to execute every move precisely and confidently.”

What makes this game even more intriguing is their unique player generation and development system. According to the press release, in GOAL, each club will boast completely distinct athletes that grow and upgrade as players progress.

Moreover, they took the concept one step further with their ‘Originals’, which introduces real-life individuals into the game. “Visually authentic to their real selves, but evolving as they progress, meaning no 2 Originals will ever be the same,” claims GOALS.

British influencer and musician Olajide Olayinka Williams “JJ” Olatunji, known professionally as KSI, will feature as GOALS’ first ‘Original’ and will be available at launch.

“GOALS is built to reflect the glory days of football games, bringing the purity and skill found in the beautiful game back to the digital screen […] We designed GOALS with a gameplay-first mindset, that puts the player firmly in control, by creating a responsive, consistent, and empowering experience where skill dictates the outcome” – Andreas Thorstensson, CEO of GOALS.
