FURIA Eliminated From Worlds 2026 After Second Loss to MVK Esports

FURIA have been eliminated from Worlds 2026 in League of Legends. The Brazilian team lost 3-1 to MVK Esports on Saturday, October 17, in the Play-In lower bracket final, ending its World Championship run before the Swiss Stage.

Before the rematch, Guilherme "Guigo" Ruiz had told Strafe in an exclusive interview that the opening-day loss had been a "nightmare" and that fans could "expect a win" in the second series against MVK.

How Did FURIA's Elimination Against MVK Unfold?

MVK took a 2-0 lead in the series, winning Game 1 with a 21-8 kill score and Game 2 with a 17-7 kill score. FURIA needed to win three consecutive games to stay alive at Worlds 2026.

The Brazilians fought back in Game 3, winning 21-6 in kills to cut the series deficit to 2-1. However, MVK closed out the best-of-five in Game 4 with another 21-8 kill score, confirming FURIA's elimination.

It was FURIA's second loss to the Vietnamese team at the tournament. On Thursday, October 15, MVK had swept FURIA 3-0 in their opening series. FURIA went on to eliminate Cloud9 3-1 on Friday, but could not repeat that victory in the rematch that would decide whether they stayed in the tournament.

MVK to Face Karmine Corp for Final Swiss Stage Spot

With the result, MVK will face Karmine Corp in the Play-In final on Sunday, October 18, at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 18:00 UTC. The teams previously met in the upper bracket final, when Karmine Corp won 3-0. This time, only the winner will advance to the Swiss Stage.
