Fnatic Sweep G2 Esports in a Series for the First Time in 8 Years

On the same day Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther was inducted as the next League of Legends Hall of Legends icon, Fnatic swept G2 Esports in a series for the first time in eight years. To make matters all the more noteworthy, this is the first time Fnatic have ever swept a G2 lineup featuring Caps himself. 

A Historic Day for Fnatic

Despite having beaten G2 before, this marked the first time since the 2018 EU League Championship Series that Fnatic sweep their European rivals in a series (either Bo3 of Bo5). 

What's even more notable about the occasion is that Caps was part of Fnatic’s lineup at the time. Now, for the first time, Fnatic have defeated G2 2–0 with Caps on the opposing side. 

Vladimiros "Vladi" Kourtidis and Elias "Upset" Lipp were key figures in Fnatic's victory, with both carries finishing the series with 11 kills each.

Caps Stumbles Amidst Highest of Honors

Earlier today, Caps was chosen as the third inductee into the Hall of Legends, following Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao. The honor saw the Danish mid laner become the first Western player to be inducted into the Hall of Legends, joining the most prestigious celebration of League of Legends esports icons.

What should have been a day of celebration quickly turned sour as G2 Esports stumbled against Fnatic during their LEC 2026 Summer clash. Loss and all, G2 still hold on to second place in the Regular Season as the squad now takes a week off to celebrate Caps in style.
