In surprising news, the EG Rocket League roster has officially been disbanded. Not only that but the org will not be returning to the game at all. The news was announced via their social media channels over the last few days and left a lot of fans confused about the future of Rocket League.

One of the most well known esports organizations in the world leaving a game with less popularity than giants such as CSGO or Dota 2 will not go unnoticed. Hopefully, that will leave the stage empty for brand new talent to fill.

EG Rocket League Roster is No More

Why did the EG Rocket League roster leave?

While their absence will leave a gap in the leagues, it might not be as shocking as first thought. Despite being active since 2018, the EG Rocket League roster has never managed to place first in an S-tier event.

Furthermore, the announcement was made only 2 days after the team placed 7th-8th at the G1 Invitational. They suffered a 2 - 3 loss against G1 in the upper brackets before achieving the same result against Moist Esports in the lower bracket and being eliminated. It seems that this may have been the final straw for the organization.

It’s worth noting that no official reason was given in the statement sent out to fans. Furthermore, EG CEO Nicole LaPointe Jameson seems to not have commented at all. Her focus has certainly been on the org’s success in CS:GO at the BLAST Premier spring groups and Dota 2, where the new South American roster has already qualified to the Lima Major.

What’s next for the EG Rocket League roster?

This certainly isn’t the last fans will see of the EG Rocket League roster! The good news is that the entire roster has moved onto a new team, the German Amigos. They will play in the European region. Not only that but they have already begun competing in the Winter EU Regional Open.

Their first game took place just one day after EG announced that they were leaving Rocket League. This implies that the deal was already in place well before fans found out.

The good news is that the new German Amigos roster has already placed 4th in the Winter Open after being defeated by Rocket League masters, Karmine Corp. That means 12 RLCS points for the team. Fans of Catalysm, ivn and Tox can catch them competing together consistently going forward, even if not under the EG Rocket League roster banner.
