Top 3 Teams
Starting with the Group Stage Recap, we had a longer-than-usual run, with 24 teams participating. After six intense rounds of play, only eight teams remained, advancing to the playoffs. Here’s the list of the top 8 teams that made it through:
The biggest surprise came from OG, who went from a fifth-place finish at BLAST Slam V to topping the DreamLeague Season 27 Group Stage. The Southeast Asian squad won 5 out of 6 matches, with their only loss coming against Team Falcons in the fifth round.
As expected, Team Falcons and Team Spirit also performed well, finishing with 5-1 records. Falcons lost only to Team Spirit in the sixth round, while Team Spirit’s only loss was to OG in the fourth round. These results show that the top 3 teams are in near perfect balance. If this form continues, they could easily make it to the Finals.
Xtreme Gaming and Virtus.pro
In the 4-2 section of the Group Stage, Virtus.pro and Xtreme Gaming delivered strong performances that surprised everyone. As we mentioned in our tournament preview, Virtus.pro’s only previous event was a last-place finish at FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2. To qualify for the Top 4 ahead of teams like Tundra Esports and Team Yandex is no small feat.
Their success seems to be a result of the additions of Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek and Kirill "Hellscream" Lagutik. The new offlaner and support duo have improved the team, helping Virtus.pro already earn double the prize money they took home at FISSURE. Now, they’ll face a greater challenge in the playoffs.
Xtreme Gaming also impressed their fans by finishing seventh in the Group Stage. After a disappointing performance in Chengdu during BLAST Slam V, the renewed Chinese squad delivered a better showing in DreamLeague Season 27.
Though Xtreme Gaming lost to Virtus.pro in the group stage, VP’s only losses came to OG and Yandex. That gives Virtus.pro an edge over XG in a potential playoff matchup. Still, Xtreme Gaming’s strong performance is a welcome surprise as they head into the main event.
DreamLeague Season 27: Playoffs Schedule
The DreamLeague Season 27 Playoffs will follow a double-elimination bracket, with all eight qualified teams starting in the Upper Bracket Quarterfinals. The first two days of the playoffs (December 17 and 18) will feature exclusively Upper Bracket matches, with the Lower Bracket kicking off on December 19.
Each day will have three matches, meaning the first round of the Upper Bracket Quarterfinals will conclude on the second day. Here’s a look at the schedule for December 17 and the first match on December 18:
