Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2026: Survival Stage Results and Playoff Schedule
The initial stages of the Esports World Cup 2026 (EWC 2026) are over, and now all that's left are the Playoffs. Eight surviving teams will battle for one of the biggest prizes of the year in a single-elimination bracket.
Let's take a look at who made it past the Survival Stage and the matchups for the Playoffs, along with the most interesting pairings that should provide the best entertainment in this new stage beginning on July 16.
EWC 2026: Survival Stage Results
The Survival Stage started with a Dark Horse conquering a spot in the Playoffs after beating Virtus.pro and Aurora Gaming by 2-1 and 2-0, respectively. Rune Eaters secured the first survival slot and will advance to the Quarterfinals of the Playoffs as the tournament's Dark Horse.
After that amazing beginning, Team Liquid defeated Xtreme Gaming by 2-1 but failed to get past Team Spirit, who won by the same score and claimed the second Playoff spot, eliminating Liquid.
In the third matchup, Vici Gaming got an easy win by default after part of the PTime roster was suspended due to an ESIC investigation. Their match against 1w started with them at a disadvantage, but Vici prevailed in the end and won 2-1 after turning the series around, becoming the only Chinese team in the Playoffs.
Finally, the last matchup featured two quick 2-0 victories. First, LGD Gaming eliminated MOUZ and, right after, got eliminated by BB Team, giving the Eastern European organization the last spot in the Playoffs.
EWC 2026: Playoff Schedule
As we have already mentioned, the Playoff stage begins on July 16 and will be played in a single-elimination bracket. This means we will have a third-place decider, and defeated teams will have no second chances.
Now, without further ado, let's take a look at the schedule for the Quarterfinals of the Esports World Cup 2026 Playoffs:
| Date | Time | Team 1 | vs. | Team 2 |
| July 16 | 11:00 GMT | Nigma Galaxy | vs. | BB Team |
| 14:30 GMT | Team Falcons | Vici Gaming | ||
| July 17 | 11:00 GMT | Team Yandex | Team Spirit | |
| 14:30 GMT | PVISION | Rune Eaters |
Interesting Machups
Since we only have four matchups, let's take a look at my personal favorites for each day and why I have high expectations for them.
Team Falcons vs. Vici Gaming
Vici Gaming survived as China's only representative at the Esports World Cup 2026. Similarly to Xtreme Gaming, they are their country's only hope right now, and they will face the reigning TI champions, Team Falcons.

The last time Team Falcons played a decisive match against a Chinese team, they won The International 2025 against Xtreme Gaming. Will they manage to replicate that success at EWC 2026?
Team Yandex vs. Team Spirit
Apparently, Miposhka's return has done wonders for Team Spirit's morale, and they have put together a pretty good run at EWC 2026 so far. Facing Team Yandex will be the hardest test of their newfound strength so far and might become a new Eastern European classic in the making.

Despite Spirit's status as two-time TI champions, Team Yandex has an oppressive advantage in recent history. They have faced each other nine times, and Team Yandex has seven victories, including a five-match winning streak over their last five meetings.
Closing Thoughts
The Esports World Cup 2026 had to change its host country, but the Dota 2 event has delivered everything we expected, and there is still more to come. Absolutely nobody believed the Rune Eaters would get this far, and they will definitely play their Dark Horse role to the very end.
Vici Gaming is also carrying the heavy burden of representing China and giving their fans some hope of winning The International, which will return to Shanghai in 2026.
