If you’re a Rocket League fan, now is the perfect time to see which of the top players will make it through. As the top tier collegiate esports tournament, the CRL will have some big shoes to fill. CRL National Championship - Who’s Going to World’s?

CRL National Championship Format - What to Expect this Weekend

This year, CRL National Championship will feature 6 teams that’ll qualify via regional eastern and western tournaments. The championship itself takes the form of a double-elimination bracket where all matches are a best of 7. That’s a whole lot of Rocket League to look forward to!

So what can fans expect from this weekend? Each team starts in the "winner's bracket", and they advance through the bracket by winning matches. If a team loses a match in the winner's bracket, they drop down to the "loser's bracket", where they will have a second chance to advance.

If a team loses a match in the loser's bracket, however, they are eliminated from the tournament. The winner of the loser's bracket will typically face the winner of the winner's bracket in the Grand Finals. In order to win the tournament, the winner of the loser's bracket must beat the winner of the winner's bracket twice, as they have not lost a match up until that point. The top two teams from each group face off against each other. The winners of those matches then move on to the semifinals, and then the winners of the semifinals face each other in the Grand Finals to determine the National Champion.

Who will be competing? - Top US Teams

The top 6 teams in the entire USA will be competing for their chance to head to Worlds. Three teams from the east coast and three from the west will make it to nationals. While the top 3 might not have been selected just yet, the top playoff teams are ready to fight it out:

  • Columbia College
  • Missouri University of Science and Technology
  • San Diego State University
  • Boise State University
  • University of Nevada Las Vegas
  • University of Texas - Arlington
  • University of Oregon.

East Coast

  • Northwood University Blue
  • Rochester University
  • West Virginia University
  • Akron Zips Blue
  • Fisher College
  • University of Akron Gold
  • Northwood University White

The CRL National Championship is an event that continues to grow in popularity each year, and it's not hard to see why. With its exciting format and top-tier competition, the tournament offers fans an unforgettable esports experience that showcases the incredible talent of these college players. There’s still a lot more to come from CRL in the coming months!
