Consecrated Wraps Is The Best Defensive Item In Dota 2

30 Mar, 2026, 11:56

Dota 2 patch 7.41 inroduced several new items. Ranged heroes now have the ability to hit multiple targets, Urn has two upgrade paths, and if you ever felt like you wanted an armor item between Chainmail and Platemail, congrats, now you have one.

Among all the new options, the one that stood out the most to me is Consecrated Wraps. For it's price, it is easily the best defensive item in Dota 2 right now.

Three reasons consecrated Wraps is the best defensive item in Dota 2 right now.

Night Stalker dodged the 7.41a nerfs and is pretty strong.

It's very affordable

For 2600 gold, Consecrated Wraps is a pretty cheap item. It is significantly cheaper than Linken's Sphere (4800), Black King Bar (4050), and Heart (5100). The low price means that you can make it while snowballing to greatly increase durabiliy, or when behind to make sure you don't get bursted down quickly.

The components are also cheap and fairly useful. You can opt for extra health, stats, or magic resistence in whichever order you need the most. This gives Wraps a lot of versatility overall.

Consecrated Wraps offers tons of durability

Heart of Terrasque gives the owner 40 strength, which translates to 880 health. That's at a cost of 5100 gold. Consecrated Wraps provides 382 hp from health and stats, and a 360 barrier for a total of 742 bonus durability. For nearly half the cost at 2600 gold.

The two items remain comparable. Heart comes with 1% health regen, while wraps brings one armor and 12% magic resistence. Overall that comes to very close increase in EHP. Though Heart wins in extended fights where the regen kicks in. Wraps is better suited for burst damage.

Consecrated Wraps helps you escape sticky situations

When Hallowed kicks in, you get a 360 damage barrier that blocks all incoming damage. That means it is possible that while that barrier is up, you can use Blink Dagger to escape dicey situations. This is similar to Templar Assassin using Refraction to avoid HP damage and use Blink. Although Wraps is a little more awkward to use as you first have to take damage before the barrier is up. So while certainly possible, it's not ultra easy to pull off.

Another benefit of Hallowed is the extra movement speed you get every time a barrier stack is acquired. 15% Bonus movement speed is nothing to scoff at. Although it also requires you to avoid taking player damage for a few seconds, which is easier said than done.

Consecrated Wraps is an incredibly strong item in Dota 2 right now. It provides near same durability as Heart, costs nearly half the price, and allows you to escape dicey situation. It's no wonder people who buy it win nearly 57% of matches, so be sure to get it in your next game.
