Despite being one of the best tactical shooters in the world, Rainbow Six Siege is nowhere near as popular as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Valorant, at least in terms of tournament viewership.

This year, there were several events that offered $500.000 in prize money, as well as a world championship that offered $3 million. But the audience numbers were not that impressive. Even Six Invitational, the R6 Siege World Championship, had just $121.000 average concurrent viewers. And that’s why Ubisoft decided to partner with BLAST.

About BLAST’s Accomplishments in CS:GO

BLAST is a great tournament organizer that created its own circuit inside the CS:GO professional circuit. It’s called BLAST Premier and features seven important tournaments each year.

This last Sunday, the BLAST Premier tour ended with a tournament called World Final, which brought together eight of the best teams on the planet and offered $1 million in prize money.

BLAST will also be responsible for organizing the next CS:GO Major, which will take place in Paris next year. So we’re talking about a company that really knows how to entertain an esports audience.

BLAST’s Involvement in R6 Siege

BLAST’s impact on R6 Siege’s professional scene is likely to be a major one. Starting with 2023, the company will partner with Ubisoft for a multi-year deal and will help the gaming behemoth to create a much better esports scene for itself.

This scene will include both regional leagues and international tournaments. A total of nine regions will be included and this is likely to help R6 Siege to become a lot more popular.

These are the regions that are included in Ubisoft and BLAST’s plans:

  • North America
  • Europe
  • Brazil
  • Asia
  • Oceania
  • MENA
  • South Korea
  • Japan
  • Hispanic Latin America

Relative to what we see in most of the other esports, this list is extremely inclusive. Arguably, only Riot Games does a better job when it comes to maintaining a global presence.

The new R6 Siege circuit is scheduled to start in March 2023 and finalize in February 2024. It remains to be seen if BLAST can deliver on its promises and help this esport reach the popularity it deserves.

The game itself is excellent and top players like Matthew “Achieved” Solomon make it even more beautiful. But few people have the patience to watch its professional events.
