BLAST Slam VI: Playoffs Schedule, Group Stage and Play-In Results

BLAST Slam VI: Playoffs Schedule, Group Stage and Play-In Results

After a long year of dominance, for the first time, Tundra Esports and Team Falcons did not get seeded in the BLAST Slam VI Playoffs. Right after failing to get seeded, Tundra also lost against Heroic in the Play-In.

This means that, for the first time since BLAST Slam II, Tundra has no shot at the championship. Let’s check how things unfolded during the Group Stage, who got past the Play-In and what the schedule is for the BLAST Slam VI Playoffs.

BLAST Slam VI: Group Stage and Play-In Results

Starting with the Group Stage, we had a best-of-1 round-robin that decided who would get seeded to the Playoffs. After a four-way tie, Natus Vincere and OG secured first and second place.

This was the first blow for Tundra Esports and Team Liquid, who had to fight for their spots in the Play-In. On the other side of the board, Heroic eliminated Rekonix and GamerLegion surprisingly eliminated MOUZ in the Last Chance Qualifiers.

The Play-In started with another big surprise, as Team Yandex defeated Team Spirit 2-0. Right after that, Team Falcons punched their ticket to the Playoffs after also getting a 2-0 and eliminating Xtreme Gaming.

The last day of the Play-In started with Heroic putting a stop to Tundra Esports’ back-to-back string of championships by defeating them 2-0. Finally, Team Liquid got their spot after beating GamerLegion, finishing a perfect 2-0 combo in all Play-In matches.

BLAST Slam VI: Playoff Schedule

Now we get to the BLAST Slam VI Playoff schedule, with six teams remaining. The Playoff matches start on February 13 and the Grand Final will be held on February 15 at 15:30 GMT.

Here is the schedule for the BLAST Slam VI Playoffs:

  • February 13 — 13:00 GMT — Team Falcons vs. Team Liquid
  • February 13 — 18:00 GMT — Team Yandex vs. Heroic
  • February 14 — 13:00 GMT — OG vs. Falcons/Liquid
  • February 14 — 18:00 GMT — Natus Vincere vs. Yandex/Heroic
  • February 15 — 15:30 GMT — Grand Final

The first day of Playoffs brings Team Falcons facing Team Liquid as the opening matchup. Despite their success in reaching the Playoffs, Team Liquid is still on unstable ground.

Now Liquid has nowhere to go but forward and try to take the long-awaited BLAST Slam championship from the hands of the standing TI Champions. This will be an important moment for Liquid in the first quarter.

Closing out the first day, Team Yandex will face Heroic. Yandex has been performing consistently well since the year started, while Heroic has had highs and lows.

After bringing in SantiagoTaiLung” Agüero Gustavo to the midlane, things seemed to fall into place for Heroic. Now we will see a clash between the need to stay on top and the grit to come back and prevail against the odds.

OG is Back: Breaking the Curse?

OG has been seeded directly into the Playoffs, which means they are guaranteed at least a Top 4 finish at BLAST Slam VI. This is the first time OG has placed higher than Top 6 in a Tier 1 event since ESL One Birmingham 2024.

This puts their region hop among the most successful, if not the most successful, in recent Dota 2 history. Region hopping is common in Dota 2, but more often than not it ends badly for organizations.

Apparently, their return to their origins with a green jersey left behind the weight of the dark years in blue and brought back the easygoing, light-hearted success of older days.

For now, we wait to see whether OG will face a determined Team Falcons on the road to a BLAST Slam championship or a recovering Team Liquid after overcoming a big challenge. OG defeated both during the Group Stage.

Closing Thoughts

BLAST Slam VI is already breaking the pattern, as neither Tundra nor Falcons were seeded into the Playoffs. On top of that, Tundra was eliminated and we saw a variety of surprising results in the Play-In.

Team Falcons are on course in their hunt for another championship. Team Liquid are on a journey of self-discovery. Team Yandex face Heroic in a battle to prove who truly belongs among Tier 1 contenders.

Finally, OG and Natus Vincere are the surprising seeds holding the door to the Grand Final. Natus Vincere will face the winner between Team Yandex and Heroic, which seems to be the "easier" way into the Grand Final.

Now, six teams from various regions and backgrounds will fight with everything they have to reach the top of BLAST Slam VI after winning the Grand Final. If you want to stay informed and find out who will be crowned champions, check out our news section on the Strafe website!
