On May 26th, the B.E.C. Arena in Manchester was the stage for an electrifying showdown in the Grand Finals of the BLAST R6 Manchester Major.

The clash featured the seasoned French powerhouse Team BDS, former Major winners, against the North American underdogs, Beastcoast. Despite the odds, Beastcoast pulled off a stunning upset, securing their place in Rainbow Six Siege history.

The Journey to the Finals

Team BDS, led by the formidable Stéphane "Shaiiko" Lebleu, entered the tournament with high expectations, having previously won the Six Jönköping Major in 2022. Beastcoast, on the  other hand, came into the competition with nothing to lose and everything to gain, defying all pre-tournament predictions to reach the Grand Finals.

The finals were a nail-biting best-of-five series that kept fans on the edge of their seats as it went the full distance across all five maps. Beastcoast struck first, claiming victory on their pick of Skyscraper. Team BDS swiftly responded by winning on Consulate, evening the score and setting the stage for an epic battle.

Map three, Chalet, saw Beastcoast initially dominate, leading 5-2 in the first half. However, BDS's Théo "LikEfac" Mariano orchestrated a remarkable comeback, helping his team clinch the map 7-5. This put BDS ahead 2-1, bringing them closer to another international title.

Beastcoast showed remarkable resilience on map four, Kafe Dostoyevsky, which was BDS’s pick. Despite a shaky start on defense, Shaun "Gunnar" Pottorff's stellar performance helped beastcoast win the map 7-5, pushing the series to a decisive fifth map.

The Final Showdown on Border

The ultimate battle took place on Border. Beastcoast, buoyed by outstanding plays from Gaven "Gaveni" Black and Ayden "dfuzr" Gabari, took a commanding 4-2 lead in the first half.

Despite a valiant effort by BDS to close the gap, Beastcoast held their ground and secured a 7-5 victory on Border. This win sealed the series 3-2, crowning Beastcoast as the champions of the BLAST R6 Manchester Major.

The showdown also featured a duel for the highest number of kills in a LAN best-of-five series between Gunnar and LikEfac. Both players surpassed the previous record, but it was Gunnar who set the new benchmark with an astounding 63 kills.
