The most heated rivalry in the LEC is back for another chapter! Movistar KOI vs Karmine Corp will decide which team will face G2 Esports in the 2026 LEC Spring Grand Finals, but perhaps more importantly, the winner will secure the final LEC spot at MSI 2026.
Here's everything you need to know before Movistar KOI and Karmine Corp clash on Saturday, June 6.
The Modern LEC Rivalry: National Pride on the Line
Long gone are the days when Fnatic vs G2 would dominate all viewership and narratives when it came to European League of Legends action. There's a new rivalry in the LEC, and it eclipses all that came before it.
When MKOI and KC take each other on, there is more than League of Legends at stake. It's a battle between two countries that have enough history together as is. With some of the most committed fans in the scene and an innate urge to make your country proud, lighting a fire under every player, it's no wonder MKOI vs KC became the most-watched match of the Regular Season, with over 380k peak viewers catching the action.
Now they meet again; only this time the stakes are a whole lot higher.
Head-to-Head: Who Arrives in Better Form?
In 2026 alone, Karmine Corp holds a commanding lead over Movistar KOI in head-to-head matchups. Currently, KC are 4-1 up in matches (10-5 in games) over their Spanish rivals this year.
While these numbers paint a clear picture, the real story is a little more nuanced. A little over a week ago, MKOI stood on the brink of clean-sweeping G2 Esports in the Upper Bracket Finals of the LEC. Though they did end up getting reverse-swept instead, their highs displayed during the match should leave MKOI fans feeling enthusiastic about their team's real ceiling.
Meanwhile, KC has not been able to put up the same level of opposition against G2 since the LEC Versus at the start of the year. Whether KC suffers from a kind of mental block when facing G2, or it's MKOI who suffers from one when facing KC, the truth is that whoever manages to find a fix first could well end up becoming the next LEC Champions.
Matchup to Watch: Jungle Supremacy
Before Rudy "SkewMond" Semaan came around, there was no room for doubt as to who the two best Junglers in the LEC were. Now, Javier "Elyoya" Prades and Martin "Yike" Sundelin will write yet another chapter in a personal rivalry that is far older than that of Karmine Corp vs Movistar KOI.
While it's nearly impossible to decree who the better player is, several key differences exist between the two. Elyoya, for one, has turned into one of the best facilitators in the league — the perfect complement for a player like Jojopyun.
Instead, Yike is the more assassin-minded of the two and is more than capable of carrying a game in his own two hands. The key thing to watch here will be whether Elyoya will lean more towards shutting Yike down or setting his teammates up.
These differences can also be found in their champion pools. While both Elyoya and Yike are more than happy to play several of the most common current meta Junglers (Pantheon, Xin Zhao, Vi), their differences might start to play a role deeper into a long Fearless series.
Where Elyoya is a tried and true Jarvan enjoyer, Yike tends to turn towards carry picks like Kha'Zix or Naafiri at a time of need instead. If the match turns into a close contest, these are the kind of differences that may well decide which team will head to MSI in the end.
Prediction: Who Gets to Take on G2?
As far as Europe goes, there is simply no other rivalry like that between Karmine Corp and Movistar KOI. When the two teams take the stage for this Lower Bracket Finals, there are sure to be fireworks.
Coming into his match, the levels of KC and MKOI are incredibly close. At the end of the day, the victor should be whichever team is able to hit their highs more consistently. With that said, though, it's hard to ignore the way their most recent matchups have gone.
We predict that trend to continue, and for Karmine Corp to move on in the Playoffs with a 3-2 victory over Movistar KOI.
