The long-awaited VALORANT Champions Shanghai 2026 kicked off with intense action, but widespread technical disruptions quickly dominated the narrative on Days 1 and 2.

Competitors across multiple rosters reported sudden PC performance stutters and persistent wireless mouse malfunctions during their opening matches. The recurring broadcast delays quickly prompted fans and commentators to joke about a mandatory "EMEA tech pause curse."

Pro Players Voice Frustration

Several high-profile competitors publicly voiced their frustration regarding hardware failures. Nongshim RedForce's Kim "Francis" Mu-bin revealed that mouse and PC problems prevented him from demonstrating his true skill level on esports' biggest stage, though he clarified it was not the sole reason for their loss to NRG.

Meanwhile, Team Liquid's Nikita "trexx" Cherednichenko joked and expressed disbelief that PC and peripheral glitches remain an issue “in the big 2026” following Liquid's 1-2 loss to Paper Rex.

Karmine Corp's Burak "LêwN" Alkan also encountered mouse trouble, fortunately salvaging his match by switching to a reserve mouse.

Arena Interference and Competitive Integrity

Initial community speculation suggested affected players occupied specific stage seats. However, Paper Rex assistant coach Ashton "Wendler" Wendler clarified that mouse issues disrupted both sides of the stage, indicating the root cause lies in arena-wide technical signal interference rather than isolated PC hardware failures.

While previous international tournaments saw Riot Games deploy updated global PC fleets to improve reliability, wireless mouse signal disruption remains an unsolved hurdle in crowded arena setups.

As Champions 2026 unfolds in Shanghai, protecting strict competitive integrity is paramount. With high-stakes matches decided by split-second reaction times, tournament organizers face immediate pressure to resolve these technical disruptions before knockout stages begin.
