After announcing the departure of controlez a few days ago, today, January 31, the MongolZ have announced the addition of cobrazera as the final piece of the roster.

This announcement puts a huge question mark on Senzu’s future, who earlier this year took a break from competition.

The MongolZ 2025 Rise

Over the past two years, no team’s rise has been as remarkable as The MongolZ. 2025, however, was the breakout year for the squad.

The first half of 2025 saw them consistently take down big names and compete with the biggest teams on the biggest stages. Their performance made them a permanent playoff team, with multiple top-four finishes.

While Team Vitality dominated the first Major of the year in Austin, the biggest surprise was The MongolZ’s run to the Grand Finals, where they took a map off the eventual champions.

The MongolZ' strong form peaked in the second half of the year when they secured back-to-back-to-back Grand Finals. This is also when they finally secured their first S-tier trophy at the Esports World Cup by taking down Team Vitality in the semifinals and Aurora Gaming in the Grand Finals.

Senzu Takes Break

The strong performances were followed by a poor conclusion to ESL Pro League Season 22 and Senzu taking an indefinite break from competition.

As per multiple sources, the reason behind the break was burnout. The MongolZ also confirmed Senzu would be absent from the second Major of the year.

As a replacement, The MongolZ brought in controlez. The temporary addition surprised many as the team reached the IEM Chengdu playoffs before losing to FURIA. At the Major, their performance surprised everyone as they secured a spot in the Budapest Major 2025 playoffs with a 3–1 record. However, they failed to secure a win over Team Vitality in the quarterfinals, concluding their 2025 campaign.

Cobrazera Joins The MongolZ

Post-Major, the community had their eyes glued to The MongolZ’s social media for news on the future of the roster. The obvious move was a post bidding farewell to and thanking controlez for standing in.

Earlier today, however, The MongolZ announced the addition of cobrazera, a 20-year-old rifler who previously played for The Huns Esports. The move came as a surprise, as many expected Senzu to return to the starting lineup post-2025.

What’s Next for Senzu?

With cobrazera starting, Senzu donning the MongolZ jersey no longer appears likely, meaning it’s either another season on break for the young rifler or a call from a bigger, international organisation ahead of 2026.

Given the Mongolian’s performance and ability to win high-impact rounds, the latter isn’t far-fetched. Especially if paired with veteran players capable of leading, Senzu could very well be a team’s X-factor and star player.

For now, there are no rumours or speculations regarding Senzu’s future. The MongolZ will also skip the first event of the year and prepare for the inaugural PGL Krakow 2026.
