T1 Secure Their Spot at the LoL Esports World Cup 2026

It's official: T1 are returning to the Esports World Cup for another shot at the title (and the hefty prize funds). With Faker at full force leading the team, T1 took down Dplus KIA at the EWC 2026 Korean Qualifiers, securing their spot at this year's League of Legends competition at the Esports World Cup.
T1: Here We Go Again
It's no secret that T1 know how to turn up the heat when it matters most, and they're already starting to show it. The team didn't have a great start to the year, falling early at the LCK Cup and missing out on First Stand altogether.
Now, though, the reigning World Champions are on a terrifying run of form. T1 currently hold the longest win streak in the LCK with 6 consecutive match wins, and that's without taking into account their run at the EWC Qualifier.
To book their spot at the Esports World Cup, T1 put on a near-flawless 7-1 run, capping it off with today's 3-1 victory over a formidable Dplus KIA squad. With one task out of the way, Faker and the rest of the team can now focus their attention back on the LCK entirely, where two spots for MSI remain up for grabs.
One Qualifier Spot Left
So far, Gen.G and T1 are the two South Korean teams (out of four) to have secured their spots at the Esports World Cup. The final spot will go to the winners of the Road to MSI bracket over in the LCK.
Before that, though, Dplus KIA and Hanwha Life Esports are set to clash for the last qualifier spot available tomorrow, May 26. Does DK have any surprises left in the tank, or will Gumayusi get to take on his former team at the EWC?
