Well, Nigma Galaxy has made a pretty interesting roster change. After qualifying for the Esports World Cup, the team have split with their former carry and mid laner. Denys "rincyq" Bohushev and Tony "No!ob" Assaf are out. And Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan is back, along with Artem "lorenof" Melnyk.

Let's take a look back at these players' history and speculate on just how far we believe Nigma will go.

Third time's the charm for SumaiL?

This is SumaiL's third time as both a member of Nigma Galaxy and a carry player. Sumail first tried playing as a carry back when he was a member of OG Esports, and his best result was a top-eight finish at The International 10. Not a bad performance at all, but not the threepeat that OG was looking for. He continued playing as a carry for a second time for Team Secret, but that wasn't a good time for the squad.

SumaiL joined Nigma shortly afterwards, this time as a midlaner, and their first marriage was somewhat lacklustre for a roster of that strength. SumaiL left Nigma and joined Aster, an interesting move that resulted in a relocation to China. After that, Sumail returned to Nigma Galaxy for nearly two and a half years. With him on the roster, Nigma qualified for The International 2025 and secured a top six finish. Not bad at all.

SumaiL then left Nigma Galaxy in March and stood in for Mouz and Team Falcons. With the biggest events on the horizon, SumaiL has returned to Nigma Galaxy again, though oddly enough as a carry this time.  Sadly this does mean that Rincyq is kicked right after helping the team qualify for EWC.

He's not the only member of Nigma missing out on a trip to Paris. No!ob has also left the squad after a short stint as the team carry and a much longer attempt at being offlaner. It's a bit sad that No!ob wasn't able to flex his muscles for a longer time in his best role.

Lorenof is an interesting character. He was kicked from Aurora Gaming yet returned in their hour of need. Playing as a stand-in in DreamLeague Season 28 and securing a second-place finish for Aurora. No hard feelings there, bud?. In the meantime, he helped Falcons and Mouz in the last two PGL Wallachia events.

So how strong is the new Nigma?

At the level of competition Nigma will be competing at, team chemistry is everything. Now Nigma Galaxy has made several big roster shuffles in the last few months. Their former mid is now carry; they got a new offlaner and midlaner too. The only consistent thing about the team is the supports.

Lorenof has looked good as a tempo-making mid laner; I don't think he will struggle much. Mid is also a fairly independent role in the early game, which can set the tone for the entire match. An overall good pickup here.

Now, SumaiL as a carry... well. I personally thought he was the best player during his time with OG, which may not be a popular sentiment. I believe he has been trending towards more farming mids in the last six months, so he clearly wants to move away from a more tempo-based role. I'm more mixed on SumaiL's carry but certainly believe he can pull it off. The problem is the squad has two weeks for TI qualifiers and less than a month for EWC. It's not a whole lot of time to figure out a new role.

Overall, I have mild hopes for the roster. The team is still figuring out how to play with Cedric "Davai" Deckmyn, and now we've got two new(ish) members! But anything is possible, and I will certainly be watching the TI qualifiers with great interest!
